A statue of the beloved host of "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" has us a little freaked.

Yesterday a bronze statue of the children's television pioneer was unveiled in his hometown of Pittsburgh. Do you think it's a fitting tribute?

Mrs. Rogers was thrilled with the statue. But that grin may serve up a little fear in the tiny ones in strollers. Of course when Mommy says: "Oh look Mr. Rogers!" and keeps a positive attitude then the children will follow the mood.

The artist should have kept Mr. Rogers simple, nothing fancy, would have been better. I watched him some, when taking care of my littlest sister. I was fourteen at the time. She liked him, so he was on along with Sesame Street. The effect he is trying for is best done with paint, without color to brighten the effect; the effect comes off as distressed. Good for war memorials, but not for Mr. Rogers his message was happy, understated and simple. The statue should have been the same. To remedy the look I would follow up and dapple paint the statue with bright colors.

Yes, I do. If you go to Primanti's restaurant, they have this great painting on the wall of all the famous Pittsburgh people including Mister Rogers, Andy Warhol, Andrew Carnegie and tons more.
