great shots, I love basil...finally motivated to grow some of our own this summer, motivated by conversation here actually (in fact Jonathan you may have been one that urged me to grow my own, if you did thank you--so nice to have it fresh right outside my door.
David - I don't remember doing so, therefore I won't take credit for it. But it is wonderful, when you're cooking dinner, to be able to step out the back door and grab a pinch of whatever you need fresh off the plant.
If I have nothing else in the garden, I always have some basil, parsley, oregano and other herbs. At my house there is no excuse for going without homegrown herbs. When we have a heavy year of travel, I can do without the homegrown veggies because I get plenty of gifts from friends, clients and neighbors, but the herbs are a must. Yours are beautiful, Jonathan. I bet those tomatillos will turn into something quite tasty too!
Thank you Madame Donna. I look forward to getting some very enjoyable salsa verde and other things out of the tomatillos; if nothing else, I'm going to experiment with a green (tomatillo-based) hot sauce.

It's very green right now (and it was early morning when I took these pictures, so it was dew-laden and even more green than normal). I'm hoping for some color variation when the habaneros start to ripen - I have both green and red this year.

I agree about the homegrown herbs - I have had them for years now and there's nothing like being able to pick exactly what you need from the garden.
