We have been talking about this day for a while now and it finally arrived on Wednesday. My five year old daughter started kindergarten. There were many mixed emotions as I'm sure there are with every Mom who has a child starting school for the first time. I was so proud of her all dressed up in her uniform and very excited for/with her. It was also a bittersweet moment for me watching her go into the school and saying goodbye.

The uniforms for her school are navy blue shorts/pants and white shirts. The girls also have plaid jumpers they can wear. The nice thing about this white shirt is that you can just bleach it if she gets something on it. The first day she came home with chocolate milk spilt down it, I put it in the washer with bleach and out it came.

Our son, Aidan, was so excited for his big sister too. He even wore his backpack to take her and drop her off at school.

A big hug from Daddy before we all got into the car to take off for the first day.

A few more smiles and hugs before we left the house.

Here I am with the kids for a photo and I was a little teary eyed that day.

I think somebody is just a little "too cool for school!"

Maddie took very well to her first day. There were no tears. She went right to her desk and sat down and posed for a photo for me. I was very impressed by her attitude.

I got a view of the classroom and Maddie was coloring a picture of Fred Bird. He is the icon for the St. Louis Cardinals of which the kindergarten teacher is a big fan.

Here is Maddie with her new kindergarten teacher. I think they are gonna have a great year. The teacher seems to be excellent with the kids. Maddie has come home both days very happy.

The day we dropped her off I did great and I was driving to work, and I guess I was fooling myself. I broke out in hives on my neck and I just started itching like crazy. And I have never even had hives in my life. ha ha ha ha ha ha
my kids are so old now, my baby is in the 5th and my oldest is a freshman..
You worked hard for all of this Monica. Look how far you've come and the gifts you've been given. These babies are beautiful.
Your little girl looks so proud.
Good job mama.
I remember this 18 years and 13yrs and 3 yrs ago when my kids and grandson did that first step.. with Sara I bawled,, I got to say you held up good.. I am proud of you mommy
Both of your kids are so cute
I cried my eyes out each time one of my children went off to school for the first time and when they all graduated from high school.
My kids have been going to daycare three days a week since they were 4 months old. So they have been used to being away from me for those days, and going to Nana and Papa's.
Honestly it was harder on me that it was on Maddie. She loves kindergarten. Stephy will too!!
I'd LOVE for you to post this to my Back to School group!
I'm glad she likes school
They grow so very fast
First days are so bittersweet. First days for first borns, even more so.
