I haven’t written in over a week! After doing an ungraceful split and twist on my kitchen floor (flip-flops and water do not mix well) I awoke the next morning with back spasms. Several chiropractor visits later I am back on my feet and feeling normal again.
The good thing, the glass half full thing, about an injury like that (relatively short lived) is you get a lot of time to think about things. So here are some of the things I thought about:
Your back is really essential to your ability to stand, sit, lie down and we should do ev
erything we can to keep our backs strong. Having cared for an elderly woman whom I loved dearly (my late mother-in-law) who had osteoporosis it’s imperative that we exercise and drink our milk! I’ve seen too many elderly women stooped and shuffling to think glass half full if we don’t exercise and stay strong.

I seemed to go long periods where e
ven if I thought, gee this would be a good time to eat, moving was so much of an effort that I didn’t go get something to eat and nothing happened. I forgot about food, I ate later when I was really hungry. I seemed to eat two moderate meals on the days that I was laid up but didn’t feel deprived and didn’t overeat. THAT is what I strive for in my quest, to eat when the hunger is strong enough to get me moving to the kitchen as if it’s too difficult when there is just a little call. Dr. Beck says that there is little luck with depending upon one’s hunger but for me, that is the essence of thinking like a thin person and that’s where I think she has it wrong. Now I haven't solved this problem but, like this week, I had hints at it's possiblity.

Thirdly, there is nothing like a brief (very brief) reason to stay in bed and think. I guess that leads to I should find ways to relax and reflect (mediation, writing, laying in the hammock under the trees) without having to be in pain!
In what ways have you discovered or renewed discoveries for yourself when something has put you out of your normal routine? http://livethin.blogspot.com

Anyway, all my best to you for your speedy healing.

Less rare do we hear people talking about exercise and healthy activity levels in a way that is not overdoing things or that takes hours out of a person's already busy schedule, but at least that does happen a little.
Diet is a Latin word that means "lifestyle". When you change your "diet" you change the way you live, not just the amount of food you eat. Try natural, unprocessed, unmicrowaved, untainted food. You will be surprised at how much weight you will loose by changing only the number of chemicals in your diet and how processed your foods are.
What helps is 1) trying to relax throughout the day (dropping your shoulders is the ovbious one) 2) Once a month I get a good back massage 3) I use one of those huge balls regularly to excercise my back muscles and stomach muscles - excersing only abdominals can make your back worse. Plus the excerise I aim for is more based on Pilates - so no vigorous movements. I have lost a lot of weight of which I'm proud but my back problems are still there. I agree with Kriystinas comments !
