Reading the jacket gives the book a “too big” sense. It tells you this will happen, then that will happen, then this and on and on. I was prepared for the worst.
I was pleasingly surprised. The author takes us on a journey that is up-to-date in all aspects. Susan takes us on the ride of a lifetime. She weaves a web of deception that is second to none. She is truly up there with the “big boys” of suspense writers.
The story unfolds like a classic black and white mystery with Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart. The mystery starts out slow and continues to build. All that is missing as you read is the music that is prevalent in classic movies. It has suspense and romance that mix well together. As you read, the title will become obvious.
We are immediately drawn into Evie’s life. The hustle and bustle of a career woman with too little sleep and not enough time for anything but work draws us to her. As the story continues, we find ourselves trying to give Evie encouragement as she travels through the web of deception that has been weaved before her.
This book is one that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It will keep you enthralled until the last period. Reading this book at bedtime will be detrimental to your sleep—you can’t put it down. I recommend this book to all of you and your friends.
