Hello to all,
Havoc Swims Jaded by David J Schow, Subterranean Press 2006. Cover illustration by Frank Dietz.
This is a collection of 13 short stories that are like horror movies that play on the neurons in your brain.
Quoting from the leaf: "Havoc Swims Jaded? What the hell kind of title is that? What does it mean? It sounds vaguely . . . threatening, doesn't it?"
How true. Every story threatened my preconceived and long believed ideas of personal safety. The horrific, murderous, violent and disturbing are just the other side of a very thin veil of normality. They can rip through it at will.
Expanding Your Capabilities Using Frame/Shift Mode - There is a feature of your TV remote that gives a disturbing view of what is on the screen.
Plot Twist - Three friends a trapped in a desert unreality where days seem to repeat. One makes a decision to change it.
Size Nothing - Megan surprises her boyfriend with her new look. The serial killer likes it, too. <>
These and ten other stories expose the dark side of modern life. Laughter might well up before you clamp your lips shut
and think, 'That can't be funny, can it?'.
Sounds vaguely . . . threatening, doesn't it?
Namaste, Wayne
