Whenever I think of October and All Hallows Eve I think of Ray Bradbury.
A fantasy writer who can make the ordinary - extraordinary and the Supernatural see utterly natural.
Whose two books - The October Country- a collection of short stories and the novel: Something Wicked this way comes, are fantastic examples of his vivid imagination.
So very real and yet so creepy and scary once you reflect on what you just read..
His words creep up your spine and sends shivers down into the dark corners of your mind.
A master of the craft of words - a patron saint of the dark times...
Who has earned a place next to Edgar sharing the time when once upon a midnight dreary while one ponders weak and weary...

If you liked the Martian Chronicles - and you have not read the one I mentioned - then you are in for a treat. The chronciles were a dazzling delight. Few if any writters craft prose like Bradbury at his best. Also, of course - Dandelion Wine - now there is a great book to drink deeply from - a homage to childhood wonder.
he is definitely the father of a certain style in science fiction..i liked his story about the last people on earth looking to connect and about colonizing space ..
I can't remember if I read the book pictured or not, but know I have read a lot of his works. When I was young I lived for science fiction, and in a way still do. I have boxes of sci fi books in the garage that I bought over the years. I have a thing about loaning or throwing books away, I just don't do it. So I have quite a collection, mostly paperback. The last few years I have been adding movies (DVD & VHS) of sci fi to my collection when I can. Amazon.com carries a lot of old sci fi I loved as a kid.
Great article- love to see how other feel about Bradbury. Harlan Ellison is another favorite.
He captures a sense of awe and wonder that few other writters do. Hence his great writting about childhood - Something Wicked and Dandelion Wine.
They made a reasonably good movie of Something Wicked - it just sagged at the ending - didn't pull off and didn't quite follow Bradbury's lead. But the rest of it was great. Also the movie "The Other" - feels like Bradbury - although it was not - its a first time novel by Thomas Tyron - interesting enough side note - a paperback edition of the book "The Other" is selling for $60 on barnes Nobles Used On line book store!
