Well, here we are it's JULY and that means I've got LESS THAN 10 days to finish these costumes up. :(
The HP fest starts at 8am, which means in order to get there on time we'll have to be up at SIX am. Accounting for traffic along the travel and such requires that extra 2 hours. *sigh* This also means that I cannot stay up late the night before to finish up last minute things. So, right now I have to be done in NINE days like it or not - even if it means not sleeping. (as it is I'm up til 4-5am every day as of late working on the robe)
So, last night I was starting to feel pretty good. I was 75% done with this SECTION of the robe and things were looking decent. Then I realized it... I'd messed up... bad. A mess up that required TWO HOURS removing stitches (boy I sew tight, LOL) and wasted SIX HOURS. I took six HOURS sewing what I ripped out last night. That's a big setback I just cannot afford!
So, now I've got it straightened out and I hope to have no more set backs. This robe is hard to envision since I have no REAL pattern and including the hood pieces the robe consists of TWELVE pieces. So, it's confusing - especially on so little sleep as I've had the last few days. :(
I still have delusional dreams that I'll have time to read the additional SIX HUNDRED pages of the book so we can actually PLAY the tri-wizard games rather than looking like... GREAT, we don't KNOW the trivia because I was busy making the costumes. :((
In other HP news, HEDWIG visited the barber (me) the other day. I only trimmed pretty much his face, belly and the top of his head, but there's an improvement. Sure made a mess of my living room with the feather pieces LOL.
Front before.
Face close up.

Full face and front before:

Front after.

I'll have to work on the rest of him slowly. Technically I should glue each feather down so that they don't move, like a real owl's is. But Gideon and Like how they move so we'll let them be free. :)

that looks good...
Thanks. He still needs more trimmed off. That boa was wild LOL
OMG your hedwig is awesome!
Thanks so much. I didn't like any of the patterns for owls online since most were not 3D enough. The heads were almost always flat. I drew this one up based loosely on something I saw online adding the changes that I felt were needed.
Like these robes, it was scary sewing up since I had no real pattern that was guaranteed to work. But he came out okay. Just needs more feather trimming. :P
This looks really GOOD Jen!
You put a lot of hard work into this. This is truly marketable!
This is FEATURED in Artistic Therapy and Artistic Minds®.
Let us know when this goes to market!
Thank you, Rene. I still need to tame his wild feathers, but he didn't come out too bad, considering his pattern is one that I drew freehand and kinda just made up as I went along LOL
Gideon's quite pleased with him, and because of that, I'm pleased as well.
He'll be with us at the fest on the 11th. :) (Yes there will be an essay from there as well)
As for marketing, I'm not sure about that, though the pattern IS mine, so I could by rights do that.
I estimate that it costs me about $9 to make this fella.
It's worth MARKETING Jen.
And, it is the WILD FEATHERS that really make this so SPECIAL.
Hedgwig looks great - good luck on getting everything finished up!
Thank you. The websiter proclaims "The Adventure is only 1 week (or 8 days) away!" which means I have at most 7 days to finish everything up in.
It's going to be tough to do that, but I hope to have most of it done by Monday. We'll see how that goes.
I just started to watch the movies. I haven't read the books, yet. My cousin is into Harry Potter.
The books are good... I've read the first two and I now skipped to the fourth for the trivia.
I haven't really seen all the movies (but we are planning to TRY to see the Half-Blood Prince)
It's a great series and just a ton of fun. This coming from someone that admits to not really liking Fantasy. :P
