Gideon really loves working with kiln fired clay in school, unfortunately this isn't something you can work with at home. So, does anyone know any alternatives that are readily available that he could use?
I'm considering Crayola Model Magic and he likes the idea of it, but I'm not sure if it's comparable enough.
I know it's pre-colored so there's no painting or glazing done (though you can paint it if you want), but has anyone here used it? Can you tell me more about it? Would it be a close comparison to that sort of clay and if not what might we look into?
Gideon's looking to purchase the Model Magic later today, but I thought it didn't hurt to ask around first.

I love it.
It is like modeling with marshmellows. The weight is *so* light.
What is it he wants to make? Perhaps a heanier air dry clay would be better.
If you do want kiln fired clay you might post on Craigslist- some folks have small personal kilns and can fire it for you for a small fee.
It does sound like fun, and I'll tell him the info you provided me with here and see if he wants it still. Thanks SO much for all of your input!
Deanna, I'm keeping that option open too, fabulous to know! Thanks!
He got a multicolor package today, so we'll see.
Lisa we love Crayola here too. Will only use Crayola crayons. All others are inferior in quality.
The kids preferred playing in the mud. LOL
