It's vibrant and I love the pattern repetition in the fingers toes and wings.
whimsy is a challenge for me. sometimes people say something i do is whimsical. i can see it when they say it, but it wasnt usually something i set out to do.
in this group of paintings (i set out to do 16 small paintings of whimsy - or more) it was fun to find my own interpretation of whimsy and still paint as me. ...what ever that is...
this was actually a request from a local gallery. "Do Whimsy". "ok," i said (to myself), "you can choose the topic, i get to interpret it any way i choose." . . . the gallery liked them. so now i have to take them in. funny. for me it was almost more important to do them as it is now to take them in... i think people have a difficult time seeing whimsy as painting. ...which of course is a fun edge to push around in and muck about exploring - with clarity.
so i have to say big thankyous to you all for stepping in and speaking out with seeing just one. (it's easier to see what paintings are about if you see a number of them together around a subject, yes). fun, yes. i think the world needs more fun in it. especially now! fun on. ...and laughter too.
