Gather "arts" Group

Hi everyone.  I just logged into the group that is just known at "arts" here on Gather.  For some reason, I noticed that I have been appointed the administrator of this group without my knowledge.  I thought this might have been a glitch, at first, but all my other groups seem to have me at the right membership level.

So, I wonder, first, if this has happened to anyone else?  Has anyone else found out that they are listed as the "administrator" of a particular group without their knowledge?

I sent an mail message to the group owner, but she hasn't logged on in almost two years, so I don't know if I will get a reply.

If she doesn't get back to me by the end of March, 2009, I may  just fix that group up a little.  I don't know if I'm going to moderate it, though.  It seems to be a post anything group right now, but I might want to shave some of those non-arts posts off to make it fit the theme a little more, or feature some content.

Hmmm, never heard of the group or anyone being apointed a moderator without their knowledge.

Yeah, it's weird. I have another group that I might pass on to someone who might like it. It's my Canadian-American genealogy group. I may just dissolve it, it's only got 7 members and no one has posted anything.

I don't think I get extra points for having a group. Since the upgrade, though, I do like to go through my groups to view content because I think they simplified it.

That is odd. Perhaps Gather did that since the group owner is AWOL??? Seems like they'd ask you first though

Yeah, it's weird. I joined the group just before the last time the group owner signed on. Maybe she was leaving and just assigned administration to the first person she saw in the group. Or, maybe other group members have administration privileges, too.

Yes!!

This has been an ongoing problem for at least 2 years. I was inexplicably made the moderator for a few groups....but it doesn't happen very often.

Thanks Kevin. I still haven't heard anything from the group owner. I'm not planning on making any big changes to the group, mostly cleaning it up.
