This is the before sketch done in pencil and outlined in Sharpie ink. The pet was a faerie gelert (for those who are not Neopet Savvy) it's a sort of a dog-like critter. You can see the details penciled in on the wings, but not outlined in ink.
I originally scanned this image, but my scanner is hooked to the PC that cannot connect to the internet, so I had to take a shot of the pen and ink drawing with my camera.
After I scanned the image I brought it into a program called Project Dogwaffle. It's freeware and you can grab it for yourself here.
A little coloring and a subtle and pastel grey outline and here's the final outcome:
The file became slightly pixleled on the Gather upload. Here's the picture nice and clear and hosted offsite:
