sometimes i am amazed by what i have seen. what is amazing is that sometimes when i am looking at it, i dont realize how beautiful something really is. i'm too busy looking and not seeing. later when i try to see what i have looked at, as with a photo, i am amazed - it's then that it stuns me

i have to wonder how much out there i miss, because if i had not taken the photo i might not even remember that i saw this, let alone felt it. seeing into the photo, spending time with it, brings a lot to the surface that was there when i was looking but just didnt understand how special that moment really was. does that make sense?

so thanks again Tanya and Michele for helping me to even understand this.

Aloha Sonia - thank you. i know you must be in a scented heaven - some citrus blossoms are subtle and yet so distinct they just sweep me away. i have 3 near each other that do that, a grapefruit, a lime and a kumquat, those 3 are always worth an extra step to get close too.

thank you Jackie - one of the things i like about haiku is that it forces my naturally rambling wordiness to become succinct with every word counting. i also like the idea of multiple kinds of beauty - layered richness and beauty in a work is definitely worthwhile.
