Soft morning sunlight
Open blossom brushing lips
Cool damp orchid scent
This photograph was taken during my trip to Kauai in April 2007. The red-purple coloring with the strong yellow seemed unusual to me although I know there are literally thousands of different orchids. The warm morning air was full of that moist earth and foliage scent even though near the orchids the temperatures were cool.

and thanks for commenting on Miz Stephanie's article about me as well - that touched me. Salud.
thank you M M. - i really enjoy the combination of image with haiku
thank you Jackie - i like orchids. this particular orchid image surprises me every time i rediscover it. (i like to see photos as large as possible too - thanks)
thank you Carol - each island can be so different, it's fun to explore each. i have more photos from Kauai - i just need more time to get to them. you're welcome. i appreciate the time you (and others) take to look as well as comment.
thanks Roberto - i like the way this one came out too.
thank you Sue - presentation is important to me so i try to get it right - altho i am always experimenting with it. i'm glad to know that others see it. one day some day, i hope to bring many of the photos i've published on Gather into good prints that can be easily framed up, i like to keep that long range goal in mind as i work.
thanks Tonia - that description for this image makes me smile.
you're welcome Mariana - i dont get here nearly often enough to see all everyone is doing - i just havnt figured out how to fit 43 hours in one day. i like the idea of magic in the image and words - thank you - that blossom does it for me.
thank you Cindy - i think you are right about shadow, light and temperatures in the photo contributing to the cool and damp sense in the 3rd line. of course i remember the day as well - in addition the background in the photo, which i am very pleased with in terms of the focus moves from warm greens in the upper areas to cooler greens in the lower areas - i like those greens against the heat of the blossom itself - steamy.
