Where to Buy Paper?

I usually go to Wal-Mart or A.C. Moore. I have also bought from Hobby Lobby and a local store that sells the Creative Memories stuff. I don't worry too much about actual maufacturers. I just buy what appeals to me and that I know that I will use.

I haven't really found any good sources for free samples other than what you can print at home. I use 12" x 12" scrapbooks, so printing at home is kind of silly to me because I don't have a printer that will print that large of paper!

I love Micheals and Hobby nut here in Miami. I also know a women who personally owns a craft store so she gives me good discounts. I dont worry about the brand as long as its acid free. Also on a good day oriental trading.com has grat pattern paper, I got a awesome african cloth multi Pack about 3 months ago.

ebay has some pretty papers intended for crafts and origami, no free sample though. :(

I found a TON of neat papers at Big Lots, of all places. I also find neat scrapbooking materials at the Dollar stores, or Dollar Tree.

I find stuff at the dollar stores too. Neat stuff.

Also, if there are any print bureaus in your area and if you are a designer (they do not necessarily need to know that your design is for...um....grandma) you can get lots of free samples. I also did a Google search for "Free Paper Samples" and came up with quite a few hits.

What's AC Moore? I don't think I have that around here?

AC Moore is a big craft store, similar to Hobby Lobby or the like. They have a website www.acmoore.com.

Strathsmore heavy weight watercolor paper I like the best, especially for large paintings on line dickblick.com art materials great prices great choices I end up running to the local college bookstore when I run out though...

i use watercolor paper a lot. dickblick and utrecht are both good sources. i also buy from ASW (Art Supply Warehouse) on line. i most often use Arches because it is tough if i am doing a lot of scrubbing. and Lanaquarelle because it is so bright white. i use hot press (smooth texture) and cold press (medium texture) papers mostly 140 lb and sometimes 300 lb. sometimes i like rough (deeper texture) too. i also like some of the strathmore papers. rice paper is thin and works for some things really well in ways i like too. there are lots of kinds of rice paper. mulberry paper is interesting as well for some things. strathmore makes a bristol paper i like. utrecht makes a smooth plate paper i like too.

some of the manufactures will give you a sample set of their papers. a lot of places used to do this for free but now have started charging a small fee. sometimes you can enquire on line about their sample papers.

I usually get the 40% off coupons in the sunday paper and go to Joanns, Michaels, or AC Moore. Other than that, I have gotten some nice paper collections on ebay and at the dollar store.

Old magazines and telephone poles works well.
