Recently I came across some of my old sketchbooks--well, they had to turn up eventually, right?
For several years I've tended to draw a room or two in the various apartments and houses in which I've lived and here you may see two examples.
One is from an apartment inhabited in the very early 80s, and the other sketch is from 1984...the whippersnapper days of the very house in which I sit and type just now.
These renderings are on the slight side in my opinion but some old-timey information exists within their journalistic parameters. And who hasn't owned just such a white ceramic duck as you see before you? They were highly popular back in the day and I pitied the home without one residing on coffee table or shelf. You do remember coffee tables, don't you?
Yet drawing on white paper doesn't have the punch of drawing on black so most of my earlier white-based scribblings seem tame to me now. Still it's always instructive to walk down the memory lane of our lives through photos--or by way of an artist's interpretation of her surroundings, and marvel at attempts to capture a reality long flown away on duck'ed wing!

I'm a little concerned about that coffee table situation, but it's never too late to start! ;)
jessie, that duck ended up cracked up--how did you know? ;<)
Thanks, John!
~juni, thanks for 'tagging' along! :D
