Having a lazy day, I caught up on the past few issues of Time Magazine that were littering the junk counter. I was perusing the
book reviews and it occured to me that with all the book reviews I've read over the years; I've rarely been inclined to actually go out and buy the book.
Instead I seem to be motivated by the reccomendations of real people, with varied interests...the reader's themselves.

Sooooo....on that note.....what was the last good book you read??

In fact, that's how I know the RED TENT! From a good friend who passed it along......and there's my point.....it was not from some book review!
Rock on...Read on...... let's hear some more....
Last really challenging book I read was Wicked by Gregory Maguire. I like his books because he takes well known fairy tales and makes them from a more adult perspective. Loved "Confessions of a Evil Step Sister" and "Mirror, Mirror"
I re-read "The Grapes of Wrath" to my 15 year old last summer. I still love that one.
I'm also reading American Theocracy by Kevin Phillips. Interesting read.
I'll soon be rereading "The Stories of Breece D'J Pancake", which greatly impressed me on my first reading of it. It can be a hard read, though, as virtually all of the stories are bleak, even harsh.
right now, i am reading a dragon trilogy set in the napoleonic era. i love revisionist history. it is by naomi novik....also just read isla dewar's _dancing in a distant place_ which was good...so many books!! i am on the 2nd one of kristin lavransdatter, a new translation. it is so good!!
