Drive By 10's I won't do anymore

You don't have to submit to anyone who emails you with that kind of nonsense. That person might be someone who likes giving drive by ones. So, you are messing him up. You can simply block that sender.

Maybe he has a secret crush on you. Or just a stalker.

As soon as people come to realize that the stars play little in the role of your writing the better off Gather will be. I don't pay one bit attention to this star rating, because the answer lays in this. Click on article, then check the most read, or the most discussed. There you get a real assessment of just how taken the readers are by your writing. Some of my short stories have more than a hundred readers, so you know you are getting to them. Forget stars.

thanks ron apperciate that when leave a star 10 rating i also leave a db 10 in the comments to to help all get more points i don't really see that as being harmful and that gentlmen felt i was ignorant for it thats what he said

Many people enjoy reading articles and the Comment threads that reflect on them.

Authors often follow the threads and continue a conversation with the reader.

Repetitively posting a "db 10" message in every article and image on Gather is insulting.

It indicates that you do not care about the author, the article, or the other readers.

Today, in the middle of a sequence of Comments by readers who were moved and troubled by a writer's account of her alcoholic father, there is your invasive and irritating "db 10".

re-consider the way you want to participate.

Giving someone a deserved ten doesn't in the least show that "You don't care for the author, article, or other readers." That's the most ridiculous statement of the day. I'd ignore his/her sage advice.

I wonder, was the article posted to the drive by 10s group? If so, then they obviously want the 10 and the DB that comes along with it. So the mysterious sender of the email should mind their business.
I'm also perplexed by you being the recipient of such an email, as there are FAR more annoying DB'ers then you could EVER be.
I say call the person out, but then I'm just really really nosey:)
Do what you want Jennnifer! Don't apologize for doing something you feel is kind and helpful. Is this person so slow or unintelligent that skipping over an obviously non related comment during this super discussion was beyond his abilities?
Let the grumpy emailer rot away in his smelly 2 room apt, as he replays the memories of a bitter and lonely life across the screen of his mind.

I can understand that e-mail to a point. I have seen a lot of the same scenario and I can see how it could be hurtful to the person that wrote the article to see a generic comment on a sensitive article. But that being said, I also still believe in the whole live and let live thing.

It sounds like the guy is a jerk. Just ignore him. Don't let him bother you. There are other things to be bothered about on Gather, not drive by 10's. I give you a 10!
