Fireside 6: Soup
This late at night, it just had to be you ringing the doorbell. Even though I haven't seen you for such a long, long time. I thought Luigi must have caught you on your way home from here last time. No, it's Alfonso who works at the morgue and supplies me with this and that for the kitchen. Ha, ha, ha! Nod, nod, wink, wink. Ha, ha, ha! Luigi is the werewolf from just down the road.
That's right; it's not a full moon tonight. Yes, Luigi only hunts in bright moonlight – makes it so much easier for him. He's a bit long in the tooth, you know. Very long and sharp in the tooth!
Oh, good, you might come in then for just a nightcap and to catch up. Yes, why not! You'll probably be safe as long as you don't touch Luigi. Yes, Luigi! He's curled up and dozing by the fire. But, my, wouldn't it be funny if you accidentally trod on him in the semi-dark. Ha, ha, ha! He'd look so startled before he leapt up and tore out your throat.
Oh, my, you look ashen. And you're trembling! Come in for a drop of soup. You can say hi to Alfonso – he's busy with the butcher's knife in the kitchen. He's making his Morgue Special soup. With all those secret ingredients that you simply must not ask about. Not if you know what's good for you. Remember, don't ask! And don't tread on Luigi in the dark!
Oh, you'd better make a last-minute visit to your dying mother? Well, drive carefully. And watch out for Rasputin! No, not that dead Russian monk. He has risen! He's lurking around the place somewhere or other.
Damn, why do people have to spin the wheels when they leave here?

KR, as long it's not Luigi sleeping on the bear rug.

And thank you, Edward - I think your rule is wise.

Luigi has already cropped up in Fireside 4 and Fireside 5 - why not have a look? - and will do so again in Fireside 7 and 8 (already written but not posted as yet).
You could also come to my place in the dead of night and I'll introduce you.

Terry, you can address me as either or, if you prefer, as She Who Must Be Obeyed.
