Hello Everyone –
Thanks for your interest in this little group which I created on a whim this morning!
My idea was to offer a place for people to contribute and enjoy my favorite genre (and guilty pleasure) the amusing essay.
If you are a contributor, and are interested in polishing your work before publication to all of Gather, simply select this group as the only recipient of your work. (If you would like to publish to multiple groups - go for it!) If you aren't interested in refining things further – send it in!
All essays, humorous in nature are welcomed HOWEVER, the group has not been flagged as having potential for adult content. (Think rated PG-13.) Please flag your submissions responsibly!
If you would like to be critiqued here are some suggestions:
Submit two articles - a Draft and Final.
Submission 1: Mark it with your title and the word "DRAFT." At the top of your article, indicate if you would like corrections and suggestions included in comments or sent to you privately via "Gather mail." Remember though, that we all stand to benefit by reading suggestions and points offered by others. Drafts will not be rated - as they are works in progress.
Submission 2: After reviewing your input, re-publish with the word "FINAL" in your title. This doesn't mean that you can't make changes, but it does open you up for "Ratings." After letting the group see the product of your efforts – send it out to all of Gather minus the Final in your title, which might confuse those outside of Amusing Musings.
Readers:
DRAFTS: Please be sure to note if the author would like you to comment generally or with specific improvements in the comments. If they would prefer to have the nitty-gritty sent in "Gather mail" please allow them this courtesy. KINDLY DO NOT RATE THE DRAFTS. This will ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to tune things up before being overlooked as a low rating post.
FINALS: Rate 'em and if you can, take note of the changes that have been made from the draft. This will give us all an opportunity to see how an edit can change a piece.
If it isn't marked DRAFT or FINAL – then rate it and comment as you would any other article out there.
Thanks again for your interest!
Gisela

Egad - didn't want to come off as a control freak!
If you want to just post - do it!
Nice guidelines, though, Convenient, too. At least now, I won't have to type Wikipedia in my address bar whenever I need a quick primer on writing.
Actually, I'm not sure if this is redundant of what you've already started. (I whipped this together after Nudelman's group went strictly short fiction earlier today.)
Am going to pose the question to everyone to see if your spot is enough!
