So I thought that whole MoveOn.Org thing was a hotbed of whiny liberalism. America apologists, etc.
But I got motivated to participate in their Save Net Neutrality campaign (if I remember correctly, as a result of an article here on Gather).
What a cool deal. I went to their site, signed their online petition and gave them my email.
A couple weeks later I got an email from them saying something to the effect of "your congressman's vote is critical. call him." The email provided phone numbers and told me what to say to support Net Neutrality.
So I did that. Took all of two minutes.
Then today I got an email saying "We won and your congressman helped. Call his office and say thanks."
So I did that. Again, took two minutes.
Maybe this is just democracy for retards, I'm not sure, but I liked it.
To me it seemed like a real efficient way to run a grass roots campaign. It provided a real easy way to keep up on what was happening and called me to action when it was needed.
Did it have any effect on the outcome? I have no idea but at least I felt like I did something.
Their page will tell you what they're following at any given time. Here's a link

No matter what sign you are, Jake, there's always room for one more liberal.
Move-On's got our backs. Summer before last I saw their piggy-bank caravan in New York City. (New York City! Get a rope.)
Thanks for letting me know that others are helping too!
Heh.
extreme environmentalist
anti religious
pro criminal
unpatriotic
anti business
Here is what a Liberal is:
Favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, esp. as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties.
I knew it Jake!
MoveOn is not the hotbed of hell-bound-liberals that the wingnuts are fond of repeating in their weekly talking points memos. It's just a grass-roots group that was born in the days when we had a president whose hands were tied behind him while a republican witch-hunt went on for his head. IN the end the only crime he committed was with his other 'head'... obvioulsy not the one he used to get his Rhodes scholarship.
The head* we have running things today wasn't even elected.
* = Bush's brain, Karl Rove.
Sierously, Liberals rule! (or should!)
That doesn't sound so bad.
Welcome
No wait, we all need a laugh each day.
That doesn't sound so bad either.
