As a PK, or preacher's kid, I figured I'd be a minister like my dad and grandpa. Even my mother attended seminary. That's where my parents met. It was destined that I would follow the family tradition, so I thought at ten years old. My parents were both active in the ecumenical movement during my formative years. I learned a lot about both Protestant and Catholic traditions. Every Sunday we visited a different church in our city. My family's denomination was Methodist but we went to church every day so I related to Catholic kids who attended daily Mass. We had a little chapel in the seminary where we lived, and on weekday afternoons I practiced preaching in the empty pulpit with my buddy Mark, whose father was also a minister. I ended up in the software industry instead, but every time I see a preacher or a priest, I wonder. . . .
