Well.........with only two months left before the Presidential Election, I suppose it is time to choose sides.
Thus.....anticipating that many others here at Gather will be doing exactly the same thing, I have changed my member icon to reflect the side that I have finally chosen.
But, do not worry.......
After November 4th, I will happily change it back to thay stupid hand making a peace sign, wearing bell-bottom trousers.
For those of you who resent my new icon, I suggest that----instead of heating up the tar, ripping open the feather pillows, tying ropes into nooses, or gathering up kindling to burn me at the stake----you simply do the same thing and change your avatar to respresent the candidates of your choice.
Because I'm not trying to start World War III here, I am merely exercising my right as an American citizen to choose and display who I personally would like to see become President and Vice President of the United States.
If you disagree.........then let your own avatar do the talking.................
**BY THE WAY, ANYONE ELSE WHO SUPPORTS JOHN McCAIN AND SARAH PALIN IS FREE TO USE THIS IMAGE AS YOUR MEMBER ICON, IF YOU WANT TO........

Some people take their privacy very seriously.
The important thing is that you vote.
As far as the tar and feather thingy each side feels they are the only ones on the "right" side.
Do what feels right to you.
Words to live by, Lori......
Being thatg I am a Moderate, and an independant, I made my choice recently too, and choose Bob Barr. Although I do respect Palin, she is just not enough for me to support McCain.
Good going to vote by an active choice over party lines.
Won't tar and feather you for that.
May chastise you when you go off your meds though......
haha
However, I'll still vote for Obama
(See comment by Alexis above...............)
The problem I have with changing my icon is that I rely on it to find my comments on threads, and besides it's almost Halloween-time and I must remain spooky!
Dan it is not about who is right or wrong. Its about who you feel can do the best job and the person who is closest to your own views and stances on the issues. For some people that will always be on party lines because usually democrats and republicans are opposite on most issues. So my personal opinion is the people who don't deserve respect are not those who vote party but those who vote by race or sex be it for or against. I know a democrat who is voting for McCain because of Palin she wants a woman in power she does not care about the issues just that she is voting the party who puts a woman in a higher position. Although I want McCain to get as many votes as possible I do not respect her at all for the reason she chose to vote for him.
I voted for Bush last election, because there was no one else better, not because I was a big fan, it boiled down to who I felt was better, as best, there was no one for that.
Here I feel Barr is by far better than any of them, so I am voting here. Which is why I'll support Berf's choice even though it is different than mine, is because he thought his choice out. Anyone that thinks, I'll support their choice, because they made a active choice. Choosing party because it is party, is not making a choice, it is being lead by the nose like a piece of cattle. Thus I'll never respect that.
Choosing party because you believe who they have up is a better choice, and actually believe that, is making an active choice.
I think Palin would make an excellent VP, but McCain will not make a good President. Palin has a good head on her shoulders, and uses it. That is why I like her, but that is not enough to pick McCain, as these two will fight all the time, she is much smarter than he is, and he'll pull rank to win arguements.
Since when did you decide to become political? I think that's great! I knew you had it in you! Any one who stand up for the rights of others, will certainly stand up, vote, and be counted!
As for your choice...it is your choice, it is your right as a citizen, it is your right as a person. Which ever candidate your choose to support, you can count on me to never slam, slander, slime, "snide wind," or be little you. I respect you for standing up.
I am not like Obamamains who choose to praise you and then stick it to you just to try and show everyone what a smart a** they can be
Sharon, WHO CHOOSES TO "chastise you when you go off your meds though......" I truly hope you don't teach your children to disrespect others!
P.S. Bert, I have been working on an idea I want to share with the Group! I will share it with you in an upcoming e-mail away from the "maddening crowd." Write now I am in the middle of watching this convention - like I did when the Dems were broadcasting. Later
I was not aware that was how it should be seen.
So much for another independent voice.
Mooch
McCain and Palin all the way.
