Obama's Birth Certificate a Fake?

June 25, 2008 02:12 PM EDT (Updated: June 25, 2008 02:28 PM EDT)

Several weeks ago there were rumors floating around the Barack Obama was not born in the United States, and therefore not a natural born citizen. In an effort to dispel the rumors, left wing blogger Kos obtained a copy of Obama's "Certification of Live Birth", later posted on Obama's Fight The Smears website, and declared the rumors "debunked". Unfortunately for Obama, the release of this certification raised more questions than it answered.

Polarik at Townhall raised some of these issues last week, including:

  1. Use of a second generation reproduction of the seal of the State of Hawaii at the top
  2. Blacking out of the Certificate number in an attempt to prevent it from being traced
  3. Absence of any official signature or seal which typically appear on such documents
  4. Crudely arranged borders inconsistent with a professionally produced official document
  5. The use of an identical typeface for all text items on the page.

I had neglted to write about this at the time because I generally try and avoid being involved in rumor spreading whenever possible. After further research however, it appears that Polarik has proven rumors of this being a falsified document may actually be true. He has obtained a certified Certificate of Live Birth from the State of Hawaii and compared it to the one the Obama campaign released, and it does indeed appear that Obama's was a fake.

The most noticable difference between the two documents is also the most important, and that is the absence of the embossed seal. Israel Insider recently spoke with Janice Okubo, Director of Communications of the State of Hawaii Department of Health who stated "At this time there are no circumstances in which the State of Hawaii Department of Health would issue a birth certification or certification of live birth only electronically." And, she added, "In the State of Hawaii all certified copies of certificates of live birth have the embossed seal and registrar signature on the back of the document."

The question over Obama's place of brith is an important one, because if the rumors of him being born overseas are true, he would not be elligible to hold the office of the Presidency.

We've been through all of this about McCain, too. Let's move on to something else. If he were ineligible (just like if McCain had been ineligible) the parties would have done something. Place of birth is not the kind of screwup either would need in this important a year.

Oh just stop it already!

I am not an Obama supporter (undecided, in fact) but this is just silly stuff put out there by people who can't be bothered to write a cogent argument against a candidate.

Based on just your icon and sources, I'm guessing that you have clear philosophical differences with the man, so write about one of those. I'd rather people write articles in favor of their candidate, but if you feel that you must write anti-Obama articles for some reason, please base them on his policies, approach, advisers or fashion sense (oh wait, not that last) but not this tripe. sheesh!

I m voting McCain & don't support as as I disagree with his on many moral issues. But like kitchenmage said, if u disagree with him on issues write abt them. Writing abt such ridiculous claims & giving these rumours a serious thought is sign of weakness on ur part. Atleast don't b a closet racist, if u hate blacks & Muslims... do so openly, cowards r worst lot.

How do you prove that something "may actually be true"? You don't need proof for that. If there's none against it, it may actually be true. It appears that I have proven that the person three comments above me (picked completely at random) may actually be Britney Spears.

Now, back to the issue of people's birth certificates--isn't the way to verify those to contact the issuing authority? Do you think the Democratic Party hasn't done that?

Hawaii State law does not allow them to release a birth certificate to third parties, such as the media or even the DNC. Obama would have to write them personally to request a copy. The copy he provided did not have the embossed seal on it indicating it is not an official copy. You can site me for smears all you wish, but Obama can very easily end the rumors by providng the media with a certified copy of his birth certificate. Is it too much for the American people to ask that he prove he qualifies to hold the office of the Presidency before they cast their vote?

Kitchen, as an undecided voter I wish I could convince you that John McCain is worth voting for, sadly I cannot. I will be voting for McCain in November, but my vote will not be for McCain, it will be against Obama. My position may change once McCain announces who his running mate will be, if it is someone like Sarah Palin of Alaska, I would then become an actual supporter of McCain. Until that time though, I am taking a lesser of two evils approach.

Interesting. I just pulled out y childrens birth certificates who were both born in Hawaii and there are some differences. Now it could be the difference in their age. The colors are different minor stuff like that. Obama's is not really clear enough for me to compare it though.

Mage, I wouldnt consider voting third party unless the candidate was polling at 15% or better. Anything less than that and they would not qualify for the debates, and would not get the media exposure necessary to be a serious contender. There are alot of people who vote third party as a "protest vote" when neither major candidate is acceptable, but those protest votes only help the candidate you find least acceptable. i.e. a vote for Barr is one less vote for McCain, and a vote for Nader is one less vote for Obama. While I am not happy with some of McCain's policies, specifically immigration, there is not one policy of Obama's which I prefer over McCain's so I will vote McCain.

I FOUND the original birth certificate! It's with McSame's military records HERE! Critics say McInsane's anti-disclosure campaign, in close cooperation with the Pentagon and the intelligence community, has been successful. Literally thousands of documents that would otherwise have been declassified long ago have been legislated into secrecy. I think they're buried with the only body of the ONLY witness to see George "The Deserter" Bush actually complete his military service during the Vietnam War.

I don't want to spread rumours either . . . but not ONE shred of proof has been shown to me to discount this! LoL!

Actually, Kate, the embossing may not have always been the same. My birth certificate from New Hampshire has a notary stamp (I wish it had only cost me $5-10!) that would not be visible at all except with an exceptional scan. It isn't visible on a photocopy and that was done on purpose. They emboss them today; that doesn't mean that was always the case or that the format stayed identical.

My children were all born within 5 miles of each other here in Texas. My daughter and my son's birth certificates (11 years apart) look nothing alike.

Just sayin'. None of what's here seems even vaguely conclusive.

I was FASCINATED that Mark Walsh of the Democratic National Committee could be SO anti-Democrat. The man is HIGH in the Democratic party after all. But a quick check of the address reveals something entirely different! (I know . . . shocker, more GOP lies) . . . the address belongs to Greg Watson. Gotta wonder why the VP of AOL lives in Greg's house, eh? Anyway, Greg is the guy behind the lies. Way to prove the filthy tactics everyone. "I was a little Jakarta street kid," he said in a wide-ranging interview in his office (excerpts are on my blog, www.nytimes.com/ontheground). He once got in trouble for making faces during Koran study classes in his elementary school, but a president is less likely to stereotype Muslims as fanatics — and more likely to be aware of their nationalism — if he once studied the Koran with them.

Obviously, Obama can choose to be whatever religion he wants to be, but HE DOES HAVE A MUSLIM BACKGROUND.

If a Muslim goes to a Catholic school doesn't make him a Catholic. We had many non-catholics & even non-Christians in my school & yes they had to take part in reading the Bible & singing all the hymns with us whether liked it or not. Did they believe in my faith in the end, nope as that was just part of school work & one had to do follow the rules to stay in. Obama's school in Indonesia was Muslim version of Catholic school.. secular studies with a class in Islam.

So . . . when your lying websource is revealed and you're publicly bitch slapped for being yourself . . . you respond with "he does have a Muslim background" and "dumbasses. i win again"! Oh Dear GOD can it get more pathetic? Please, get your lips back, dust off those knee pads and stand up again . . . how much can you spineless wimps take before you get the liplock off the booshie tushie? Yeah . . . he's heard of Muslims . . . to bad the Deserter-in-Chief hasn't!

Oh Don H., I am practically dizzy in the presence of your grand intellect. Wow. And the "dumbass" comment really drives it home! Your command of the language, your gift for making your points in such an amazing fashion leaves me practically speechless! I have to sit. I'm weak in the knees.

"And he does have a Muslim background, his father was a Muslim. So what?"

Exactly... who cares. I won't be votting for him because he is a moonbat liberal.... but I do enjoy watching the libs squirm when you mention that his FAMILY is MOSTLY MUSLIM and that his middle name is definitely MUSLIM. Barack Hussein Obama! Say it with me!

Clearly, I win.

"And the "dumbass" comment really drives it home!"

Yeah... I only respond in kind schmuck. Read the previous posts asshole.

You know something Don, you're right. I was being sarcastic and I do apologize for that. I am far better than that. I allowed myself to be baited. I don't need to use sarcasm and name calling to make a point.

Being the better person is how I roll. You have my apologies.

Seriously, Charles, you should consider posting an apology for this pathetic POS article. We expect this type of lying smear campaign from the lowlife likes of Don B and Don H, but I'd always considered you to be above that low bar. We rarely agee on anything, but I've not known you to present outright lies, until you began your Obama hated-based smear campaign. It's rather pathetic.

"Clearly, I win."

Yes, clearly you win at being the most delusional crack-smoking neocon nutcase in the room.

"That's how I roll. "

You roll like an idiot.

You know what, Clark... this question about his birth certificate is crap. But it's the SAME CRAP you guys have been using on Bush these past eight years. From the word go, he stole the election, he was in bed with Enron, he was inside the 911 job, Iraq war was planned by 'neocons' in the 90's and acted upon with lies, then George Bush don't like black people, Bush and his cronies need to be tried for war crimes, killing the constitution, Bush caused oil to go up and all his buddies are getting rich... THE SAME OLD CRAP over and over and always without substance... just repeat the lies.

So, what about Obama's birth certificate? I want to know more. I want to explore every insane angle we can find on this guy... my friends, please visit theobamafile.com.

"he stole the election,"

http://www.fraudfactor.com/ff2kelectionfraud.html

" he was in bed with Enron,"

http://www.thenation.com/blogs/capitalgames?pid=21
http://www.apfn.org/apfn/enron_bush.htm

" he was inside the 911 job,"

http://www.911sharethetruth.com/

" Iraq war was planned by 'neocons' in the 90's and acted upon with lies,"

http://www.knowledgedrivenrevolution.com/Articles/200709/20070910_PNAC_Revisited_Iraq.htm
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article1665.htm

"then George Bush don't like black people,"

There's no proof of this.

" Bush and his cronies need to be tried for war crimes,"

http://www.bushcommission.org/

" killing the constitution,"

http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=20723

Bush caused oil to go up and all his buddies are getting rich

When he stole office, oil was less than $30/barrel. It's increased over 4 times since.

Oh, and all of his buddies are, coincidentally, in the oil business. Go figure.

"THE SAME OLD CRAP over and over and always without substance"

Huge difference, though...the crap about Obama never seems to be backed by documented proof.

"Oh Clark, when you talk so tough"

Billy boy. Your mommy is calling you.

Something to consider-

IF Obama'a Father was a Muslim; if he was the Father of Barack; it makes no difference where he was borne. According to Muslim Law, he was borne a Muslim. IF he was borne a Muslim, he is a Muslim. This according Islam, not according to me. IF he WAS a Muslim, and converted to Christianity, he is now a Christian. AND, an APOSTATE. You ARE aware of the dictates of Shari'a Law, where the fate of an Apostate is concerned, aren't you???

To take it just a step further; can we all agree that there does exist a percentage of the Islamic "religion" that could be considered "radical?" Can we not also agree, that, among some of these Radicals, there is a "Duty," according to Islamic sari'a Law??? Any one care to hazard a guess as to what that "duty" might be?

I'll guess; to destroy the United States by carefully planning and plotting to work your way up to become President and then destroy the country from within? Gotta hand it to them then, that takes some serious dedication. Although I could be wrong about this but I don't think the United States was around when the Islamic laws were written. Maybe it was an addendum?

I know what you mean though; my birth father was Catholic. Now since I have never been inside a Catholic church, have never studied their doctrines or follow their message and don't see the Pope as holy but was "born" Catholic, I guess that makes me a Catholic. Yeah, that makes perfect sense to me.

You know the way I feel about stuff like this is that ; we should let them publish more and more like this, because it proves this how desperate they are and how little FACTUAL items they have to work with!! How sad is that,

I actually heard that he was an alien from the planet Ork and his real name is Mork and that he is going to pick Jor-el as his running mate. Clark when that happens you will be a very proud man that your daddy is going to be the second in command of this whole country!! ;-)

All I want to know is why when you question what certain people are saying they immediately go to "oh, he's calling me a racist", or "Oh, they are saying I'm an idiot" or like up above "Charles "they hate me" Signorile! That ought to be your new tag line, my friend", accusing those that disagree with them of "hating them". I have asked time andtime again to be given "UNDISPUTED FACTUAL TRUTHS" on anything that is said in any of these articles and yet that has not happened and than is when the "Oh, are you saying I'm a racist" or "oh, are you calling me an idiot" or "oh, why do you hate me". comes. I am not calling anyone anything and I do not hate anyone. What I hate is lies and BS put out there to reach a goal. If you tell me the TRUTH and can PROVE it, I may just come over to your way of thinking. Until then I'll keep looking and keeping my mind OPEN! So I don't think anyone is going to have to worry that I am going to change who I am soon because somehow I don't think the truth will come from any of a certain group any time soon!

Peace!

Does anyone else see how stupid this whole thread is? If Obama's not entitled to run for president, neither is McCain, for Christs sakes. If you are born to a citizen, as either parent, you are considered natural born, and McCain was born in Panama, outside the US , as compared to Hawaii, a state of the US.

Of course. Every reasonable person sees how ridiculous this is. Do you honestly think they just let anyone run for office without checking these things first? Remember when Cheney used an address in a state that wasn't really his . . . oh wait. What did happen there? Somebody checked it out and let him run. And when people cried that Hillary Clinton had no right to run in New York? I think somebody probably checked that out, without needing our advice.

Tell me genious, if Hawaii became a state in 1959...why does your so-called genuine certificate from 1930 have a state seal.
