Kerry's Reloads in Dogfight Over Snipe at Troops in Iraq
Tuesday , October 31, 2006

WASHINGTON — An attack on President Bush's Iraq policy by Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry erupted into a verbal dogfight Tuesday between the failed 2004 Democratic presidential candidate and administration spokesman Tony Snow, who Kerry called a "stuffed suit White House mouthpiece."
"I apologize to no one for my criticism of the president and his broken policy," Kerry told reporters in a press conference in Seattle. "My statement yesterday, and the White House knows this full-well, was a botched joke about the president and the president's people and not about the troops."
"Shame on them, shame on them," Kerry said of the Bush administration, which he charged is afraid to debate "real men."
"I am sick and tired of a bunch of despicable Republicans who will not take responsibility for their own mistakes. Enough is enough. We are not going to stand for this," he said. "The American people are going to take this to the polls next Tuesday."
The bitter words for the administration were sparked as a result of Kerry's own comments a day earlier to a group of students at Pasadena City College.
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq," he said.
That remark spread like wildfire across the World Wide Web.
A half-mocking Snow told reporters at the daily White House briefing Tuesday that Kerry's comments are emblematic of his disdain for the military.
"What Sen. Kerry ought to do first is apologize to the troops," Snow told reporters Tuesday, referring to a comment Kerry made a day earlier while campaigning in California for gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides.
"The clear implication here is, if you flunk out, if you don't study hard, if you don't do your homework, if you don't make an effort to be smart, and you don't do well you, quote, 'Get stuck in Iraq,'" Snow said.
"An extraordinary thing has happened since Sept. 11, which is a lot of people, America's finest, have willingly agreed to volunteer their services in a mission that they know is dangerous but is also important," he added.

Why would John Kerry imply that soldiers are stupid? He was a soldier himself. I don't get it. Could it be that he is trying to push the envelope to the left so to position himself more with the radical base of the "new" democratic party (i.e. micheal moore, moveon, a.n.s.w.e.r)?
Whatever his reason, I think he really insulted the military with that comment. I mean, don't get me wrong, of course there are poor, undecucated persons in the military, but there are also smart people in the military. Our military acadamies are some of the best educational institutions in the country. I'm sure that the majority of the people who enter the military, smart or not, are patriots who wish to serve their country because they see it as worthy of being defended.
I wanted to join the marines when I was starting college, and I still want to enter the military through the JAG corp. I'm not stupid, and I think that Kerry made a big mistake when he said such a stupid thing. Even though it's a mistake, he still will not apologize.
It's not the first time Kerry made such silly comments though, from: http://www.intellectualconservative.com/2005/john-kerry-owes-an-apology-to-our-soldiers/
The day before Dean's remarks, Kerry was being interviewed on CBS' Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer. In response to a question concerning Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman's support of the Bush Administration on the War in Iraq (more on that later), Kerry told Schieffer,
And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, break sort of the customs of the — of — the historical customs, religious customs.

Why is it that republicans despise decorated war heroes so much, yet cling to and worship cowardly chickenhawks who've never served in battle?
How do we despise war heros Clark? thats a pretty broad brush there brother...and an ignorant statement to boot...
And didn't Kerry throw back his medals and ribbons in protest? So what, now he WANTS to be a war hero? Give me a break. Kerry is showing how far left he's sliding. And i'm glad that people are seeing it.
I don't know, maybe he was, right.

Watch that and then tell me that he was talking about Bush.

"Kerry charmed the crowd with tales of surfing at Mission Beach and got laughs for a series of one-liners, including telling the crowd he had just returned from Texas, "Where the president used to live - now he lives in a state of denial."
Kerry then told the students that if they were able to navigate the education system, they could get comfortable jobs - "If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq," he said to a mixture of laughter and gasps.
Talk about speaking the stark truth to students who want more out of life. The education system in California is a mess, especially in L.A. County. Each day I pick my daughter up at school I see the recruiters leaving, smiling because they have snagged another kid who's trapped by the system and sees no future other than enlisting. It shouldn't be like this. A 50% drop out rate is unacceptable. What is the bottom line for these kids, a job at McDonald's or Iraq. Kudos to Kerry for delivering a wake up call to the young voters at the rally (wingnuts are all wet on their claims)."
That speaks volumes.
Of course the liberal moonbats are probably dancing and nodding their heads (see liberal blogger above) waving their flower power, soldiers are baby killers flags, thinking how brave Kerry is for speaking the truth (again, see liberal blogger above). What a bunch of losers. Every servicemember's family should pelt him with tomatoes, or do what those kids at Columbia did with the Minutemen last month.
Peoeple can't make arguments anymore, they have to try and get my articles pulled. So lame.
Why is it, you guys know what other people mean, when they say something, even when they tell you what they mean. And by the way, You tell me the last time the republibots were wrong.
As far as war hero's, they just despise the democratic ones. No one but a republibot can be a war hero. Are you that stupid to believe that there is any politics on the battlefield. Would you want a democrat watching your back. Or a republibot behind you if you are a dem. Or would you want an American soldier on your side. I want the American soldier.
If you are going to hold Kerry to a certain standard, shouldn't you hold Bu$hco to the same standard. What about bhen Bu$hco stood infront of the Washington elite and joked, "where are the weapons of mass destruction, none over here, (hahahahahah) maybe there over here, (hahahahaha) nope note over there." Don't you find that as offensive as what Kerry said.
Actually, I can't really understand the first part of your post? If you don't think it's an intelligent conversation, then why did you post? Your babbling nonsense isn't raising the level of "intelligence". Geez.
Furthermore, I am 25, so I couldn't be in Vietnam. Were you in Vietnam?
"Investigate for yourself." Do you mean like getting Kerry's EXACT STATEMENT and reading it, listening to the video of what he said, and then making a decision about what he meant? Is that the kind of investigation you are looking for?
Retard.
It's so much easier to sit behind a keyboard than to get through basic training!
By the way what possible difference could it make to you what John Kerry said?
Oh yeah, something to whine about.
What possible difference does it make to you what I say about John Kerry anyway?
A few Democratic candidates joined Republicans Wednesday in pressing John Kerry to apologize for a comment critics said appeared disrespectful of U.S. troops as several Kerry campaign appearances were canceled.
"Whatever the intent, Senator Kerry was wrong to say what he said," said Democratic Rep. Harold Ford Jr., running for Senate in Tennessee.
"Sen. Kerry's remarks were poorly worded and just plain stupid," said Montana Senate President Jon Tester, a Democrat trying to unseat GOP Sen. Conrad Burns. "He owes our troops and their families an apology."
