I'm actually going to try making some of these so that when Mag comes to the States, he will see the benefits to throwing away his can opener.
That would be cool, Bob....but it would be better if I could go to Oz so that I could guide Magi around his kitchen and show him how easy it is to put a few things together, add water and cook....;-) Don't I wish!
;-)
In fact, in our home in Cuba, when my grandmother Mama Benita lived with us, soup was served always as a first course....you would think I would have rebelled at some point but I guess I didn't...
My favorites are cream soups, but I like cold summer soups and hearty winter soups also.....
I make big batches and freeze it in smallish containers.
Sorry that I had to use canned broth. Still it is the best recipie, and made the best cream of mushroom soup I have ever made.
Next time I buy mushrooms I will pick up some beef with bone to make a good beef broth first!
I sometimes resort to canned or boxed broth when I run out of my homemade in my freezer,....we always keep a few cans for our Emergency or Storm Closet....but I buy the one with less sodium and no MSG.
