I was thinking about this today - the first meal I made for my husband, when we were dating. It was a disaster. I had told him that I made this great version of Arroz con Pollo and when it came to making it for him, it failed miserably, even though I had made it a billion times before. It came from a cookbook by mom had bought me for use during college - From Nonna's Kitchen.
Well, when I went to make it for him, I had the wrong kind of rice in the house. It didn't come out like it should. It was too watery. The chicken was undercooked. Oh it was terrible.
I thought I had lost him right there.
Well, 18 years later, he is still here.
A few years back, I decided to re-do it with the right rice. It came out very good. He was thrilled.
So, this is my question - what was the first thing you cooked for your sweetie? How did it come out? Disaster, like me, or great? Is he/she still around?

"Cook you own damn food"
First thing I cooked for the woman who is now my wife was an Indian-seasoned pork tenderloin, green beans with tomatoes and garam masala, and paratha bread. (No, she's not Indian, I just like to cook it...)
He made me sauerkraut and pork chops and we each had gastric explosions later on that day but we were respectfully in our homes so we weren't subjected to the reality of that side of dating for a short while! LOL
15 years of marriage later I have probably only made it twice since then.

We married the next summer and had 28 1/2 years until his heart gave out and he died.
Neither one of us can remember first one after we got together
I didn't know HOW to cook in the first place so I tried to make a frozen pizza and BURNED IT.....
so then I turned around and made him a TV dinner in the mic. rofl.
I am a great cook now.... it just took 18 years of trial and error. ROFL.
