You're not going to do too much better for $10 than the 2005 Alamos Viogner. Its bouqet has light floral note. The taste is clean and crisp with a bit of melon, but very subtle. It was a nice accompaniment to Pasta with Red Lentils and Ginger I made. Would also go well with spicy Asian dishes or some seafood.
Alamos is a wine maker in the Mendoza region of Argentina. They also make a good Malbec and an interesting Pinot Noir—quite a bit heavier than the Pinot from Burgundy or the U.S., but tasty nonetheless.
I've just recently been coming to enjoy viogner (pronounced vee-own-YAY). This white grape originally planted in France's Rhone region, can now be found other places such as the U.S., Australia and, yes, Argentina. Definitely a grape worth trying if you're looking to expand beyond chardonnay!

Poor old Red, had to quit doing Willie, because drinkers were offended.
By the way the Veeta, Vita, Vegimin by Lucille Ball was actually a re-do of Red's 'Guzzlers Gin' ad that he did for a USO show (it was filmed) during WWII to show the soldiers what advertizing would be like once Television moved out of drone aircraft cockpits and into the living room.
