Meet Enzo - a television-watching, philosopher of a dog who prays his next life will be lived as a man.
" The best thing I've ever seen ( after the 1993 Grand Prix) is a documentary that explained everything to me, made it all clear, told the whole truth: when a dog is finished living his lifetimes as a dog, his next incarnation will be as a man."
Enzo lives with Denny, a formula one race car driver, his wife Eve , and daughter Zoe, among other characters.
A twisting plot that will make you laugh, and cry, and jump up into the air and pump your arm, this book had me riveted from the first page. As a devoted dog owner of two now-departed Goldens, I could imagine those two pups of mine thinking much the same things Enzo does.
But Enzo is wise - wise beyond his doggie years, and , as he watches car races with his Denny on videotape, stretches to fashion a philosophy as he reaches toward that nirvana - becoming a man in his next life; especially "that which you manifest is before you".
The book is written by Garth Stein, who has a marvelous website up - you can watch a trailer ( it isn't yet a movie) or add your own dog's story to Enzo's. Just go to:
I know you're going to love this book!
