Dani Shapiro says, "Read this book at you own peril. It will keep you awake at night and haunt your dreams." I think that is an excellent summation of this book, written by Felicia Sullivan.
This is the story of a young girl's journey through life, her near demise by the same thing that came between her and her mother, and her triumphant success in the end.
Felicia's mother is larger than life. She enjoys having a fierce hold over everyone close to her, but she is afraid to let anyone into her own life. The book goes back and forth between Felicia's battles with alcohol and cocaine as an adult and her memories of her childhood, where she was certain she would never fall victim to these powerful drugs.
This isn't a story of blame, it's a story about the power of the human spirit, and how anyone can overcome their circumstances. I highly recommend this great book!

I just finished reading "The Kite Runner". What an insight into a totally different culture and into the soul of a man this is. I'm not going to review it here, because it's already been reviewed numerous times on Gather HERE
Hope you get a chance to read it - you won't regret it...
