Donating to the library, book swapping, yard sales, and selling on Amazon come to top of mind, but I'd love to know what else is out there.
Anyone have experience or ideas?

I'm trying to keep as many as I can and I learned from one of the library assistants how to clean the pages' tops and sides. You close the book tightly and as you hold it in one hand, you lightly scrub all of the closed pages (tops and sides) with a lightweight piece of sandpaper. It does wonders for them.
I also do custom gift wrapping and sometimes, after I clean an old book, I will wrap its outside in very nice gift wrap paper, wall paper or cloth. After it's relaxed and /or dried from the covering (if I have to use the hot glue gun), I decorate it with keepsake pieces of jewelry, inscribe something in calligraphy or decorate it with ribbons in a unique way. It makes a lovely mantle piece or coffee table item.
If I decide to let an older book go, I donate it to the local libraries.
Honestly I usually keep all my books. The ones I didn't care for, or that are banged up, I'll usually donate somewhere.
LOL at never letting them go and using them for furniture- I love that! I've held onto so many that I really do need to find a home for some, though I will miss those footrests ;-)
