Welcome to PART II of our visit to Sunken Gardens in St. Petersburg, FL.
Here is the link to PART I - TROPICAL PARADISE - SUNKEN GARDENS FLORIDA - PHOTO TOUR in case you missed it.
Well worth a trip, if you enjoy lush tropical flowers and palms in a classic old Florida setting. The entrance fee is one of the best deals around, at $8 for adults, $4 for children, $6 for the 55 and over crowd.
My friend Jackie and I clicked away at record speed, but in the end we both ran out of batteries, so you might want to bring extra batteries:)
ENJOY THE PHOTO TOUR!
Let's pick up where we left off.

Off we go - exploring what's around the bend

Impossible to pick a favorite - so we had to photograph them all:)

A whole patch of lovelies ...

I had no idea that you can successfully grow iris in Florida. Of course they received plenty of shade from the jungle like surroundings and palm trees.

It was unexpectedly shady in most of the gardens, definitely welcome on those hot Florida summer days.
On the way to the waterfall ...
Bromeliads and ferns love the heat of the stone wall.

Shell Ginger flower

Palms throughout the gardens

I don't remember what these are called - kangaroo paw?
I'm sure someone in gatherland can identify this tropical beauty.

The bridge was my favorite spot in the garden.

Miss Jackie and I both remember the gardens from way back when (1970) and so we were delighted to see the little red bridge is still there.
Miss Jackie - waving back at ya:)
... reminiscent of old Florida.

We saw plenty of fat and happy Koi in this brook.
If you look close, there is an orange spotted Koi on the right - big fellow.

The serene Japanese garden area
planted by St. Petersburg's sister city in Japan.

I hope you have enjoyed the photo tour!
