Every year for about 4-6 weeks, our royal Poinciana tree is the envy of the neighborhood.
This year it is my pleasure to share it's magnificent beauty with all my gather friends.
Enjoy!

It is the crowning glory in our entrance garden - a fiery topical beauty!

It is stunning to see those orange blooms. As the bloom progresses, individual blooms open which look like an orchid.
If you'd like to see close-ups of the blooms check out my garden article about tropical beauties in my garden. I took the close ups a few days ago, the blooms are magnificent to behold.

It blooms for about 6 weeks and for the remainder of the year it has long, gracefully arching branches with pretty green lancet like leaves, like in the picture above.

It does lose all it's foliage in the winter and slowly starts out with green foliage, opening buds along the way.

The lighter specks you see in the bloom each look like an orchid seen close-up.
Our tree is already 50 years old and once froze all the way to the ground, but it made a glorious comeback.
I hope you have enjoyed your visit to my garden today - come back soon!

Thanks so much for posting this to

I just buzzed up to see where you live and your bio doesn't say. I thought it would be nice if it was near Kansas :)
If it was me, I wouldn't think about it even though I would want to, so don't feel bad if you can't for the life of you remember who it was that wanted the picture :)
Beautiful! I called my husband in to see your photos - this is his favorite flower in the south.
Here in the Midwest, the only time you see red leaves is in the autumn.
