Today my mom, myself, and my son headed to The Florida Botanical Gardens, in Largo, Florida. It is free to get in, and has 30 acres of gardens, and 60 acres of wetlands, and natural spots for the animals and birds, and Florida plant life. It was only about 45 minutes from our house too!
They have several gardens there. Fruit gardens, herb gardens, butterfly gardens, wedding gardens, rose gardens, water gardens, sculpture gardens and even a historical 'neighborhood'...which will be in another essay!! We spent about four hours walking though.
Upon entering the gardens, we saw two very cool trees. I am not sure what this first one is...I can't remember what the sign said!

This next one is a type of fig tree. The fruit was growing up and down almost every branch.

The first garden we saw, was the butterfly garden. It was raining a little bit, so there was only one butterfly around, but the plants were beautiful!

Here are a couple of the stepping stones that went through the garden.

More flowers...

And finally one lone butterfly!

Stay tuned for part two, and probably a part three, maybe even four! All photos were taken by me, with my fugi finepix s5100. Some photoes were slightly cropped as well.

Thank you so much for this trip through Florida's.........

I'm planning on visiting soon. I have never understood why they hardly advertise this Botanical Garden - it's a gem and a well kept secret that's for sure.
