There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place
where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning
more fragrant than ever again.
- Elizabeth Lawrence
This year Drea is going to have a TeePee in her garden surrounded by annuals and sunflowers. We will be adding Morning Glories and Moonflowers to brighten it up even more. We recently made some stepping stones for her garden so she can get into her TeePee without sinking in the mud (or squashing her flowers). One stepping stone has her hand prints and another has her foot prints.
In addition I try to teach Drea which are weeds and which are our seedlings. Then I let her pull a few weeds and being only two she is ready to do something else, like picking flowers for bouquets.
She likes pulling her tiny wagon around especially when I put a few small flowers or sticks in it. She has pulled a few plants out and mangled them a bit, but we make sure we have plenty of seedlings (we plan for such rough handling, by planting lots of extra seeds).
She loves to be part of planting, and sometimes she will dig holes in a freshly tilled bed that I am not ready to plant; but then, she actually picks weeds and gives them rides in her wagon.

There was a magical garden in my childhood - planted by my aunt. I loved it and I could spend hours there.
