In the spring of 2005, while wandering though my favorite local greenhouse deciding what kind of annuals to plant this year in the pots on my deck, I came across a cute little Meyers lemon tree. It was blooming it's heart out and I read the growing instructions and decided to bring it home with me.

I put it out on the deck during the summer, and the kids in my life helped keep it watered and we all watched the tiny green lemons grow all summer long.

We wait and wait all fall for them to begin turning yellow. Then on Christmas Eve when the whole family is here it has become our tradition to pick the lemons and make a big pitcher of Christmas Eve lemonade!
Everyone loves to help pick....

We have had several crops of lemons on our little tree and it is once again blooming and promising another crop of the beautiful yellow fruit and another pitcher of lemonade!

The photos are very nice.
I want a lemon tree too!
Love the little people in your life!
I'd love to feayure this on Rainbow Connections - Colorful Competitions if you are willing to repost it to the group. It's perfect for the yellow theme.
I can't believe such a small plant can produce so much...:)))
"When I was just a lad of ten, my father said to me,
Come here and learn a lesson from the lovely lemon tree.
Dont put your faith in love, my boy, my father said to me,
I fear youll find that love is like the lovely lemon tree.
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
Beneath the lemon tree one day, my love and I did a lie
A girl so sweet that when she smiled the sun rose in the sky.
We passed that summer lost in love beneath the lemon tree
The music of her laughter hid my fathers words from me:
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
One day she left without a word. she took away the sun.
And in the dark she left behind, I knew what she had done.
Shed left me for another, its a common tale but true.
A sadder man but wiser now I sing these words to you:
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat."
Great photos, Mel! Beautiful children...
Thanks for leaving me a comment BTW. Sorry that it took a few days for me leave some comments in return!
I have two lime trees growing (at least that's what I think they are). We put seeds in last spring, and I thought there was something wrong with them, because they are still small. But if your little tree can produce such amazing fruits, maybe our lime trees are the size they are supposed to be. I repotted them about a week ago in hopes that they would grow faster:)
