Hi Gather Friends,
So often humans are portrayed as being in conflict with nature. What we forget is that we are a part of it and that simple shift in perception could well go a long way to solving many of our environmental problems.
In our national parks and national city parks we have to some extent even 'created' a type of nature that we want to preserve. This year Europe celebrates 100 years of national parks - Sweden was the first country to follow the example of the United States a little over 30 years after the US created Yellowstone.
To me this year's celebration about parks is a call for hope and optimism. In these places humans are showing that they can be a part of nature.

Enjoyed your article! Shortly I am getting ready to take my horses to a nearby California park to camp for four days. I so appreciate having these cherished "green spaces" to reconnect with nature and that important part of our souls.
I enjoyed your article. Every July I go camping to celebrate my birthday. We love hiking and seeing all the natural beauty the world has to offer. we are sharing that love of nature with our children as well.
Kimber - Have you read Last Child in the Woods? So important to pass on your love of nature to your children!
Not yet - I will put it on my "to read" list thank you for the recommendation
I feel so strongly that connection with earth is what brings us back to life when pressures, expectations and tasks that wear us thin take us away.
