Google's new goal: Cheaper Solar

my niece is planning new construction.her first house......and i looking at solar as well as e glass and other things. i think it is easier to put in new construction than to retrofit an older house.

I recently attended a Solar Expo, here, in Arizona. What I found was that retrofiting is not the right thought process. If people were educated and found out what I learned, they can begin to lighten their electricity bills immediatley with just one solar array and an inverter. It is so simple. No batteries required. The inverter gets tied into the current electrical system and wallah! Solar is powering the home during the day. On very long sunny days it begins to turn the electric meter backwards and so at night the electricity being used is coming off of the electrical grid where it has been 'stored' during the day. Most electric companies these days have a government mandate to use a percentage of renewable energy by the near future and if everyone just realized how much money they would be reimbursed from the government and state they live in (up to half of the cost), I believe more people would be interested in it.
Google is right on!

That is really cool. I am also in the planning stages of building a house, so thanks to everyone for all the links. I really like the idea of solar energy. If the sun goes away, we've got bigger problems, so it's great to use a resource that is literally just sitting there staring at you.
