This link to a YouTube video was sent to me by my uncle. I watched it, saved the email as new, and just came across it again today.

This is one of the best presentations I have seen as to why we should be doing something about global warming - even if we don't believe that it is currently impacting our planet.

I don't like to sound like Chicken Little, but I truly believe it is best to be prepared for the worse, whether it happens or not. The consequences of not being prepared far outweight the cost.

My Husband read an article the other day by a very esteemed scientist that claims it's already too late to do anything to stop or even really slow down global warming. He claimed the carbon dioxide exuded by 6.6 million people has already put us over the brink and that it will happen, Earth will go through this era and people may or may not go the way of the dinosaurs.

Vicky - no one knows where "the" tipping point is. Likely, given the signs already visible, some changes are inevitable. We have already passed some tipping points. The part that no one can know, at least not yet, is what the worst can be and how bad it will get when we do get it under control.

Interesting Tonia . . . Global warming is a fact . . . other than to a few Exxon/Mobil pseudo-scientists and some Neo-Con fringe braniacs, it's beyond clear. ...And Stephanie is quite right, we've also passed some tipping points.

Not surprising that when you create a scenario that is based on cost, suddenly all of us money mongers sit up and take notice. I said "us" because I am not so evolved as to be evolved above all this "me-me-me" stuff.
We'll see what happens.

Thank you for posting the link to this interesting but scary video, Tonia. Katrina is a prime example of things that can happen as is the drought around Georgia, which makes this all the more real. It doesn't take much thought to know the consequences of events like these that is going to take a long time to overcome if it can be overcome.

My thoughts are how do we prepare for things like these? Inaction is not an answer. I do believe there are things to help alleviate some of the impact caused by these kinds of events.

I would change Column A. Where "False" and "Yes" intersect. His assumption is that if you invest and there is no problem there would be a depression. A depression is caused by not spending. The difference would be that there would be different spending. The average person would probably have to get by on buying a little less stuff so that we could invest on alternative energy research and development. Besides, we are going to have to make those investments anyway, as we truly are running out of cheap oil.
