This entire article is nothing but another shameless, dishonest bit of rightwing trash, meant to divert from the facts.
While these dangerously deluded fools pontificate and manipulate their baseless myths and fantasies, and their duped minions lap it up like so much crack to an addict, the FACT remains that we have done virtually NOTHING with regard to the so-called "war on terror."
NONE of the 9/11 recommendations have been put into place.
Borders are wide open.
Ports are wide open, and even up for sale to the very nation that brought us 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11.
Nuke plants, chemical plants, pipelines, refineries, rail lines, trucking lines, communications hubs, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc. are all WIDE OPEN, FIVE YEARS after 9/11.
Yet, the Mr. Barone's of the world continue to conflate the failed diversion in Iraq as being part of this ridiculously failed "war on terror," and claim it to be those who dare speak the truth who're a threat to this nation, rather than those who've failed to provide ANY higher level of national security, and have in fact, caused us great harm.
One only needs to read the articles published YEARS before 9/11 by the Project for a New American Century, to see exactly where the motivation for our illegal invasion of Iraq came from, and once you understand that, you will quickly brush aside the nonsensical mantra of "war on terror" as nothing but a diversion from what's really going on.
Examine the facts, people. NOTHING that this adminstration has done has made us ONE bit safer. Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11 or al Qaeda. PNAC wanted Iraq long ago, as the first phase of their plan to overtake the entire middle east. Think about that.
Right. It isn't I who is unaware of PNAC.
How has this disastrous diversion from the "war on terror" helped us in ANY way? Where's Osama, btw?
Interesting article. There is always has been "not so covert enemies". During the Vietnam era Jane Fonda and her husband Hayden were "not so covert enemies". I was shocked when I read the transcripts of Fonda and Hayden speeches. They were rooting for a rooting for a Vietcong victory.
Clark,
Why do you always turn this into a partisan debate? The article talks about the spread of Islamic totalitarism ideological movement and how some people in this country do not take this threat seriously and believe it is part of multiculturalism. For instance, Muslims in Canada demanded that Shari'a law be implemented. This request was strongly considered in the name of multiculturalism. My belief, if you want Shari'a law there are already two countries that have it, Saudi Arabia and Iran. You should move there.
This article does not discuss Bush's policies in Iraq or fighting the war on terrorism.
Lori, did you ever graduate from H.S.?
How can it NOT be a partisan debate, when the republican party has used this issue as a political tool and weapon since 9/12/01? If you don't like it making discussions "partisan," perhaps you should tell your pundits and leaders to stop demonizing those who have different opinions on the matter.
"The article talks about the spread of Islamic totalitarism ideological movement and how some people in this country do not take this threat seriously and believe it is part of multiculturalism."
The article is pure BS, and starts out with a completely nonsensical, false label that means NOTHING. Where can it go from that point of dishonesty?
If we were truly engaged in a "war" against "Islamo-fascism," the author would be asking why we diverting our attention from it in order to launch an illegal and unnecessary war in Iraq, why virtually NOTHING has been done to secure the US, Osama was allowed to escape freely, AND our invasion and occupation of Iraq seems to fit remarkably well with the 10 year old plans written up by the very same neocons that are currently in power.
"My belief, if you want Shari'a law there are already two countries that have it, Saudi Arabia and Iran. You should move there. "
And, if you want Christianity ramrodded down your throat, and illegal wars of aggression started in your name, you can probably find other lands to live in as well. The assimilation of other cultures into this and other societies does NOT pose a threat. What poses a threat is the irrational FEAR that underlies the motivations of the right these days, frankly.
"This article does not discuss Bush's policies in Iraq or fighting the war on terrorism. "
It's all linked together. You haven't been paying very close attention.
What difference does that make? Would that make George Bush and his pals any less the terrorists that they are?
Retired Criminologist, currently I write for a magazine..... which also answers the other attempted lame dig.
You know, just like the facts you keep choosing to ignore on everything else...
Some Europeans believe their way of life is being threatened by Muslim Immigrants who do not integrate. Do you believe that their fears are unfounded? When the Princeton Professor Bernard Lewis said Europe will be Islamized by the end of the century was this all hype?
If you say so. As long as you believe it that all that matters.
I see you've entirely removed yourself from the discussion now. You publish someone else's ideas and then don't even bother to participate in the comments.
Well done!
No facts, so try a personal attack. Pretty mundane.
Here's a thought, why not answer Clark's question to you?
Yeah, right..................
Oh, and Clark Kent (very befitting title by the way) if the war in Iraq bothers you so much, and based on how you obviously love to hear yourself talk, then please create your own blog on the subject. Because I am sick to death of viewing an article on an unrelated topic and having every extreme left partisan crawl out of the woodwork to make it a Bush bashing, partisan political debate on Iraq. It is not productive as it detracts from the subject of the particular blog we are commenting on.
