It has been - and will continue to be - very interesting around this recount. On Midmorning today:
"The Minnesota Canvassing Board is expected to certify Al Franken the winner of the U.S. Senate race at its meeting this afternoon. But a likely legal challenge could leave the state with only one sitting senator for the foreseeable future."

I'm just going to open this discussion up and let 'er go. Hopefully we can get some good quotes to use on air or on mpr.org, but you know the drill: This is an open discussion so you're welcome to link to news sites, articles, photos or even the videos that you recommend.
What do you think of the current state of the recount?

Ugh !!!
But it ain’t over till it’s over.
More than 25 percent of precincts counted more ballots than there were voters who signed in on election night, and even one Canvassing Board member, State Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson, has acknowledged that "very likely there was a double counting." If ballots are being counted twice, it clearly calls into question the integrity of the recount, does it not?
"The Minnesota Supreme Court has rejected Republican Norm Coleman's request to count an additional 650 rejected absentee ballots in the state's U.S. Senate recount." - source MPR News, Supreme Court denies Coleman motion on absentee ballots
Norm lawyers are now going to file court challenge to the Canvass board certifying the count.

I see that it's over.
The MN supreme court said that they wouldn't hear the case.
Big Al's in I guess, finally
Al Franken's road to the U.S. Senate
Lawsuit pending, Franken won't be seated
Folks, please keep the comments quotable - Thanks!
Once again, if it were happening to a Democrat the media would be all up in a fuss. The media standards are different for Democrats.
Julia, has MPR asked Rep Betty McCollum and other leading DFL feminists what they think of having the first porn author in the Senate? Kinda makes a DFL'er proud, huh?
Ha,ha, I love it soooooooo.
Sure, but it your only news source is the mainstream media, you wouldn't know. They down played it heavily, because they wanted Franken to win.
She has to work with whomever wins, so it's best to let it play out. There is enough chaos in the Senate already, so staying low for a week or two is a good thing for either party.
Hmm, no self respecting God fearing cross waving repub would read playboy so it must be his book. Am I right Puritan rightwingnutjobs?
Something just seems fishy to me.
Hi Chris. You seem very interested in this race, and I'm wondering if now that the MN Supreme Court has finally reached a decision in the Franken/Coleman case if you would like to comment on that? I posted a new discussion, it's fresh, and I'm sure your opinions and perspectives would add a lot to the discussion. Thank so much!
"On Thursday, the Minnesota Republican Party released a letter, signed by six prominent GOP women, including a state senator and state representative, calling on Franken to apologize for his "demeaning and degrading" article. "
...And yet not a word about GOP graft and corruption. You know...'cause Coleman and the GOP are nothing but pure. Good one!
"This column shows flagrant disregard for women, and an extreme objectification of women as sex objects for your pleasure." "
Satire in Playboy by an author?! Shocker! You should see what said about the robots! They were objectified too. I'm shocked Playboy would allow such things! SHOCKED, do you hear me?
So he wrote something for Playboy nine years ago! But President Clinton...
Something just seems fishy to me.

Hey Chris if you going to make such claims where is the facts to back those words of yours up? Maybe you should go back and watch and read what Coleman said about the shoe being on the other foot he would concede the race...now that is what I find Fishy...it is like this famous quote "DO AS I SAY BUT NOT AS I DO"....
Winston Smith, Jan 6, 2009, 6:03pm EST
Really porn author maybe you should go back and look at the Craig bathroom and the FL repub who wanted boys picture....notice how repubs fail to notice their own porns in real life but like to rant and rave about playboy writings...Tell me which one is more dangerous the writing in playboy or the Live act of bathroom act and asking for boys picture???
That's one sick son of a bitch who incidentally, sponsored legislation protecting kids from such acts. Only a Republican.......
FAMILY VALUES INDEED!!!!!!
Hey, Brain. You had a lot to say about the recount! Now that the MN Supreme Court has made a decision, I'm itching to hear what you have to say about that. Here's a link to a discussion I just posted. Your input would add a lot to the conversation! If you feel like it and you have time, please comment. Thanks very much!
But strangely no media outrage, guess such non partisanship isn't needed this time.
I just wish they'd hurry up so someone can declare victory and be seated.
And fix the problems that led to the recount in the first place!
