Isn't voting the best?!

I had expected a really long wait...
That's what all the "news people" told me I'd encounter today at the polls.
But alas, they were wrong. (At least for me.)

My 8 year old son and I hit our polling place at 9am this morning. We were back in the car and on our way at 9:15. Here's a really quick look at our really quick trip to the polls.













Although I LOVE voting, and I had a super easy voting experience today, the real excitement comes tonight!  I can't wait to watch the returns on TV and chatting with everyone on Gather as the results come in.

Hi, Pam -- I got off easy, too! Six minutes total. My district (in South Boston) didn't even have a line. The line for the other two districts at my polling place looked at least an hour long, though.

YEA!! Glad you didn't have the long wait like some are experiencing. I was talking to our daughter in Tennessee. She was going to stop this morning but the lines were down the block. She's going on her lunch and expecting a few hour wait. Our daughter and s-i-l here in Wisconsin walked right in and there was no waiting at all. We voted last week so our waiting now is just watching the results. Woo-Hoo!!

Hi Pam!

No lines for us here either. We went at about 10am to avoid the before work and lunch rush. We were in and out in 5 minutes and all went smooth

Barely a wait either around 8:30 a.m. in my small Brooklyn neighborhood: I was "the 80th" one in my district to vote....

It took longer to get into and to leave the polling place than it did to vote! (I was chatting with my neighbors - there was no line) wishing everyone a similar experience!

It took me about 45 minutes with a medium sized line, but the weather is beautiful in the Midwest today. Normally there is never any wait to vote at my location, so that was quite a wait where I live (northern Illinois). They said that the 6am crowd waited an hour and a half.

It took an hour, becaue I waited until after ten to walk over to the polling place.

Hundreds of people in a huge line on a New York City sidewalk.

It was thrilling, the "real America".

Met two neighbors, spoke briefly to a famous actress, and listened to the conversation around me.
Obama is going to carry Manhattan!

Chatted with frineds who were voting in Pennsylvania and Virginia, and Maryland; pleased that turnout is huge everywhere.

I had to wait almost an hour and a half. About half an hour of it was outdoors, but the weather was unusually warm for this time of year so it wasn't too bad. I'm glad all the campaigning is over. I'm sick of all the ads and will be watching a movie tonight instead of watching any more election coverage.

I used an absentee ballot too, but my wife and son voted about 2:30 this afternoon with no lines. In and out in minutes.

Took 2 minutes. But was anyone else IDd???? I couldnt believe that they just asked my name and checked me off a list. I was holding my ID and no one looked at it. Aren't they supposed to? I think Chicago had voting issues overall because I saw on the news that two reporters were allowed to attempt to vote twice.

I waited 10 minutes and needed no ID, although I've never been asked to show an ID. The polling place was unorganized but overall a good experience.

I voted weeks ago from the comfort of my livingroom. Ballots have gotten way too long to go to polling booth, and I wanted to make sure I got in my pick for the new dawg-catcher! Mail-in is the only way to go!!!
