But the question remains (with respect to Pat Buchanon) when is somebody, anybody, going to sink some teeth into the republicans and draw some blood?
Yes, we see that with the exception of a few Hillary holdouts (and i do mean a few) the democrats have united behind Obama but they have squandered their best opportunity savage GWB, McCain and the republican party.
If not now, when?
Today I posted two articles that are related to my watching. The first contains miscellaneous thoughts and impressions regarding Bill Clinton's convention speech; and the second is based on some observational musings over the changes in pundit demeanors, as they have been moved from closed studio to live stage.
here are links for anyone who is interested:
"Basking In The Spirit of Bill Clinton"
Watching MSNBC Broadcasting From The Convention -- random musing
Is "drawing blood" necessary, WM H? Why? I'm curious about your thinking around that.
Thanks for posting links, Bill's Spirit. Will you post another about Obama's speech tonight, or would you join a chat?
"Drawing blood" is a figure of speech intended to point out that it is necessary to contrast the distinction between the democrats plans and ideals and the republican excesses and failures as starkly as possible.
What I heard or didn't hear;
Torture - mentioned once in passing with no elaboration
katrina - mentioned briefly
Illegal domestic spying - not mentioned
willful lying us into war - not mentioned
Abu Grahib and Guantanamo - not mentioned
politicising the Justice Department - not mentioned
GWB's approval rating lingers below thirty percent and Congress' rating is even lower. These are the issues that have driven those ratings so low and they were barely mentioned.
The unity topic needed to be addressed but much of what else was said was 'preaching to the choir" and was not sufficiently persuasive to the undecided centrist.
Polls show this contest to be a dead heat. The democrats did OK (and will do better tonight) at building themselves up but did little to beat the republicans down.
Turn off the TV folks and research the real news and the truth about what is going on in this country. Obama will NOT change it - he WILL move it forward, just as planned.
What I can tell you, is from personal experience with working for a black teammate. When she did something wrong, and I complained. It was NEVER about the issue - it was a "black/white" thing. She always played the race card. Sound familiar to others?
We must be the change we want to see - it starts and ends with us!
Sad thing is, the choice of McCain is already programed in the voting machines. Not the local machines, the changes are electronic in the computer that calculates votes from local polls and sets them to a particular percentage for each candidate.
Proof and vote recount took place in New Hampshire. Did anyone here know that? All the polls said one thing, and paper ballots supported those polls. But then move to electronic voting machine and all was reversed.
Proof in Ohio elections, men in jail, stole election for Bush. Did anyone here know that?
Proof Florida deliberately ordered card stock too heavy for the voting punches to push them into the wonderful touch-screens found everywhere.
Proof in Florida at caucus that when voting for Ron Paul, Romney's name came up and got the vote and Romney supporters were allowed to vote as many times as they wanted!
Obama and McCain have the same foreign policy! & Georgia...

As for joining any chats, I had not thought about it. Will you be hosting one? .. and if so, what time and where will it be?
Gimme a few moments here and I'll get the post and double back on these comments.
Bill's Spirit I will look for your speech recap tomorrow, and hope to catch you live as well.
Not sure the music will line up, Bill B. but as long as you enjoy yourself, hey! Maybe you'll join us next week for McCain's Acceptance Speech chat?
Thanks for joining in, Linda. I particularly liked, "We must be the change we want to see - it starts and ends with us!" Haven't you written a Gather article about electronic voting? That link welcome.
WM H., I'm really glad you clarified and outlined those points - that reads more like analysis. Do you believe there truly are undecided centrists, or people who simply could be swayed one way or another?
