Can you fill your gas tank in your car with no financial worries, can you buy the food you used to with no problems, do you go out to dinner or show or movie as you would like to, or as often as you used to?
I do tho expect that you know that $40 dollars of that oil barrel which costs $100 dollars now is due to the value of the dollar going down 40%. The increase in the cost of the food that you buy is also due to the same reduction of the value of the dollar.
But if you are like me that trickled down income is not going as far as it did a few years ago.
So the question is - is the trickled down income that you get ok, or not ok?
If not, then vote to change that. You have the power to elect democrats into congress. They can increase the revenue in the US Treasury, and pay the bills, as opposed to borrow the necessary revenue to run the country from the Chinese, and the Middle East countries.

But when taxes are increased, then revenue has a slight increase then goes down lower than previous levels before the tax increase. People hold onto their money instead of investing in businesses that employ people because they are punished more for being productive.
Or, we can have the government just take over those business's and force them to produce and hire people like Castro, 'lil Kim, and Chavez do.
The scare tactic doesn't hold any water at all anymore.
Those against greed and for a cleaner world will prevail.
You mentioned going to movies -- I've cut out all outside entertainment and a lot of other things. This economy is going to take decades to recover from ... it recovery is truly possible.
They're all the same at the core...
You mean the "dot com" bubble? Then we paid for it later.
The fear was in the market and the revenue was gone and that alone started the downtern, and that is why the recession.
But the revenue from a more correct taxing method could be enough to keep the roads and bridges from failing apart, as well as to fund the military.
Also a more correct taxing method should be beneficial to business and not hinder their ability to compete in the world market place.
It's the spending. We want everyone to become dependant on a government program whether it's social security, medicaid, medicare, drug prescriptions, health care, military base or contractor in their district.
Everyone wants piece of the action but wants someone else to pay for it or to pay a little and have someone else pay a lot. We want to be compassionate with some one else's money.
Then, whenever you pull a piglet off the sow they start to squeal.
I certainly don't agree with what you are suggesting at all.
For example in the health care issue, I have said over and over again and again that everyone that needs or wants to, should buy a health care plan from a provider or insurance company or organization, and the state governments help those that can't afford to buy any health care plan.
In the Social Security arena I agree totally that people need to invest in a Roth IRA or a 401K type of retirement and to plan for their own retirement. I also agree with the government moving the Social Security age requirement on out further.
I also agree with the government contracting out more services such as school food programs, welfare, criminal housing and other things of that nature.
I agree completely with consolidating the military bases and the total military efforts. There are many over-lapping functions and features in the military where consolidation would be a great benefit.
There are so many areas that cost cutting in the government would be a benefit that I can't even come close to suggesting where to start. However, the republicans were total failures in the congress from 2001 through 2007. Therefore, I don't think it would be a good idea to see them again in power.
