I just voted, and not only didn't have to, they refused to look at it. The way they check that you are who you say you are is to have you verify your address... that's it.
In Georgia, you must show a legal photo ID. If you are registered and on the list isnt enough, someone could use a recently dead person's id and vote for them, then go for themselves also. In Georgia, if you cant afford a legal ID, the state will go to your house and provide one free for you!
It is a law here in Arizona that you have to show ID to vote. We voted on it in the last election, it was a proposition designed to keep illegal aliens from casting votes. The law was challenged recently by the ultra-liberal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, who found that it "disenfranchised" certain voters - such as the poor and the elderly, but our governor took it to the Supreme Court who overturned the verdict and found it does not disenfranchise voters because if you don't have a drivers license you can show two other forms of ID, i.e. a bank statement and utility bill for example.
Even in the crooked (politically) bayou state, a photo ID is required. With the hologram and other technology it is very difficult to fake a driver ID. I am still amazed that a photo ID isn't required everywhere. My vote doesn't do much good against a bunch of dead voters in other states.
No not in New York City either. We do not have to show id. That really freaks me out. They are so careless about this very important matter. They also have people on the register who don't live in this country anymore or people who are deceased. Nothing is done about it. What should we do to rectify this terrible situation?
There was a DFL activist in Eagan who was trying to disenfranchise same-day registration voters in a predominatly GOP district by insisting that anyone who registered had to have "a utility bill" even when they had a valid drivers license with a valid local address.

I just returned from voting in Brooklyn, NY. I saw a sign on the desk stating that if there is a notation in the voting book next to a person's, then that person will be required to produce an ID. That's the first time i have seen this. I am curious how it is determined who needs to produce an ID and who doesn't. Is the person who has to show an ID told about this so they can bring it with them. I am going ask around and get back to you.
