Urgie the Sturgeon is an amazing sculpture created by Demian Jackman.
What is amazing is that almost all of the materials have come from the Mississippi River.

The trash in this sculpture of Urgie the Sturgeon came from the 2009 Mississippi River Clean up.

Since 1989 volunteers have removed 5.3 million pounds of material from 9,300 miles of shoreline.

This sculpture was commissioned by the Minnesota DNR (Department of Natural Resources) as a tribute to the 78,000 volunteers that have taken part in cleaning up the Mississippi River since 1989.
An amazing piece of art - hard to capture the entire piece in one photo. This was located at the DNR Building at the Minnesota State Fair

a wonderful tribute to those who care
I'm amazed twice. Once because that's a massive amount of clean up, and again that someone dumped it there in the first place.
Thanks for sharing the photos, Priscilla, hope you don't mind if I feature this on my Objects in Mirror blog.
It's amazing the crap that has been found in the Mississippi River~
