Not everything we saw fit into the "Would You Buy This or Not" format of my weekly weblog about yard sales, but I always snap a few shots in the neighborhoods we visit.

Self-service yard sale
(if you can't quite read the second line, it says "If you're really broke, it's free."

A sign.
Okay, maybe there was something else attached that blew away, but it was fun to stand and ask, "What did it look like?" and "If I find it, where should I take it?"

A flower.

A house with my kind of siding.

the house with the Ivy siding....YUCK.
About 14 years ago, one of our neighbors had a house like that covered in ivy. they died and the new owners removed all of that stuff and the outside of the house was completely ruined. They had to really do some work to get the damage fixed.
I would go NUTS if my house had ivy like that...ICK
I nuke it periodically, but it keeps coming back...kinda like born-again Christians.
Yes Vic, I agree. There is no right and wrong here. It's just a matter of taste I guess.
Good stuff, Ron.
Now Bert, that's cheeky!
Lori, me too.
Thank you, Princess. It seems to be well known that ivy is bad for a house - it seems. Janie's family had a concrete backside of the house and the ivy would grow all the way up it. I'll want to investigate, and see if there are ways to keep the ivy from tearing at the house. I sure do like it.
Thank you, Linda!
Jim, I wonder if ivy could be trimmed on the underside somehow, so none of the tendrils gets big enough to do damage. Probably not, but thinking is like that - lots of dead ends.
Thank you, Spencer. I like all sorts of impromptu signs I see in lawns and along the road. Some make it clear it's a good thing the owner didn't invest in a real business or borrow money to take out TV ads. There is great cluelessness in the world.
Wilhelmine, I built a patio a few years back with slate, by a nice big tree. Ants moved in under the slate, and I could see them marching up and down the tree all the time. The ants are a minor irritant; they mind their own business mostly. Now after several years all of the other trees within twenty yards have died from some sort of pine beetle, but the ant tree is thriving. I think I know why.
Debra, this was in a lower income neighborhood, and I like that they felt comfortable in leaving the loot out there. It says a lot about everyone involved.
Thank you, Nana!
Hey, so it's called a clematis, is it? Thank you Wanda! It's nice to know you both liked the ivy.
