Most Twin Cities metro residents are still frost free but I'm wondering about all gardens after this crazy growing season, which seemed to swing from one extreme to another.
At home we ripped out the tomato plants but left the rosemary and mint (yes, I said mint, and yes, we're aware it's a creeper) and tidied up the rest. Not sure how - or even if - I should tuck in the grapes for the winter. The birch pair is doing exceptionally well and the lawn looks fine.
What is the state of your garden? Feel free to drop links to relevant articles or pictures!

Looks like it's time to unhook the hose and start getting the water for the dogs from inside the house.
I planted an aster early this year - just one, a test run - and it bloomed two weeks ago. It is positively gorgeous although the stems look ragged. It's a brilliant purple and I will definitely plant many more next year.
Is it time to bring my one little geranium in the house yet? I hear that they sometimes stay alive all winter when you bring them in.
Diana so glad to see you! Any photos of that aster? It sounds defiantly pretty. Not sure about the geranium, but I'd like to think they can become dormant without damage.
Well shoot Don, you're a step ahead of the rest of us. No leaves even? The wind kicked up here the last couple of days and our once-pretty yard looks like all the neighbor's trees came to our house to undress.
Didn't work for the ivy geraniums last year, though. This year I bought hybrid geraniums, and I'll try it again. Some web sites advocate taking them out of the dirt and hanging them upside down. I dunno, I have to do more research. It's definitely getting to time to take them in.
And my yard & gardens are a complete disaster area. I am such a laaaaazy gardener!
