Janie and I live . . .
Oh, pardon me Dude.
Where's Girlie, Dude? She didn't fall off the balcony, did she?

Janie, Dude, Girlie and I
live on the 15th floor on a block
in downtown, St. Paul, MN.
It may not be Manhattan.
It's downtown nonetheless.
Add to this urban arrogance the fact
that I live and work all on the same block.
I love the views both from home
and from work.

I'm adding this just to be goofy.
It's fun to tip things from time to time.
It gives you a different perspective.
Forget that it's buildings;
just check the geometry.

But seriously,
Here's what we see looking off to the South.
Before the red building was built a couple years ago, it was missing something.
Now, I like it.

On my way to work, I pass by some of the offices facing East. I like the way the lines of the parking ramp and old Rossmoor warehouse fade into the new urban residential buildings.

Back from work
at the end of the day
I'm sitting here at my computer.
Even the view off our balcony
down 7th Street
is nice,
if you crop it to make it look
more appealing
than it really is.
Have you ever seen one of those signs that say, "If you lived here, you'd be home now"?
It's true.

I love urban life. I'm in Manhattan, and now that the trees have leaves it's a real paradox. Out front, trees, and the Hudson River. Nearest neighbor somewhere in New Jersey. Out back, you'd think I'm living in a forest. The leaves are so thick you can't see the buildings across the courtyard.
I grew up in the mountains, and worked in the woods for 5 years. When I moved to the city, I wanted to move to the city. Actually, I'd prefer Manhattan - and I'm cordially jealous - but I have set a limit on the amount of money I want to earn in order to get by.
And yes, one of the joys of city living is having a short walk to work! I feel sorry for people who live in places where they are forced to have cars!
I try not to rub it in at work that I have the shortest commute of 450 employees - especially on winter days when some of them arrive at 11 a.m.
Actually, it's in the works, Mark. Thank you for the encouragement. We just need to do some tidying up. I also need a couple new needles for my turntables, because what's a party without a little Shocking Blue and Electric Mud?
