Super singing/song writing duo and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Daryl Hall and John Oates, are preparing for their new tour that will take them all over the US and England. Every year the two take some time away from their soaring solo careers to take their songs to the public.
John says that spending less time with each other strengthens their bond.
According to Something Else Reviews, Oates said, "Everybody has their quirks and their personality issues, and I'm no different — and he's no different. We've learned to tolerate each other. We're like brothers, and you know how it is with brothers. We don't see each other; we don't need to see each other. But the moment we are together, it's like time has stopped."
But Oates did also comment that, "Daryl's a monster. I stand next to him every night; I should know." Does John really think his singing partner for the past 40 years is really a monster? Probably not unless Oates and the rest of the band members feel like Hall is a little difficult to work with. Maybe all John meant was that Daryl is really into the music and likes things to be perfect. Who knows for sure? But it is evident they do consider themselves brothers.
Talking about their tours Oates said, "We reminisce, and I know what he is thinking, I don't even have to look at him on stage. It's just this thing that happens. It's really cool, and that thing can only happen maybe once in a lifetime, if you are lucky. So, I don't take it for granted."
In April of this year the two will finally be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They should have been inducted a solid decade ago but better late than never. Congratulations guys.
Daryl Hall and John Oates do seem to get along in the long run even if Hall has a monster hiding somewhere inside. After all, who doesn't have a bit of a monster living deep down?
Good luck on the tour and on your solo careers..
